Thats not a bad deal for the Rangers if theyre out of the playoffs and dont intend on bringing Strome back. The retention really doesnt matter for the Rangers.

No, would no do the trade at all.

I think they will be going after d men rather than forwards.

Boston would love to get him for only a 6th.
He leads all Sabre defensemen with over 3:00 min/gm SHTOI, hits and blocked shots.
He has more hits and blocked shots than any Bruin including McAvoy.
I thought he was a throw in to balance the roster and cap hit.
He may be playing over his head ytd, as he is far better than I had expected, I checked he was a big hitter for Philadelphia but did not block as many shots.
Currently with a salary of only $1,600,000 at the TDL that will only add $400,000 to the teams cap.
If he could continue playing in this fashion, he will be traded for more than a fourth or maybe the Sabres sign him as insurance (I sort of doubt that).

i want nothing to do with ryan strome. hes a product of playing with panarin. thats it. not worth the price tag at all. ide rather go get a better dman with that package or getting a true 2c thats not star player reliant.

hes a product of playing with panarin.
That's been proven wrong last season, especially when Panarin was on a leave of absence. Is he still a near-PPG player without Panarin? No, probably not, but he'd probably be performing at a more than respectable 2C rate.

I understand if you're willing to improve elsewhere, but I don't feel like it's that high of a price tag.
1. Vaakanainen is 4 seasons removed from his draft year and is like the 6th best prospect on a very subpar prospect pool (I consider Lysell, Studnicka, Swayman, Lauko & Beecher all superior to Vaak).
2. The 1st round pick is from an almost guaranteed playoffs team
3. You're free of John Moore's cap implications next season
