Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 24, 2021
Published: Oct. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Based on talent level and projections. If Rielly doesn't resgin in 2022. The Leafs need players like Brown and Hyman, so I think Brown is a good signing. Gabrikov is a good hard nose stay at home dman which is what the Leafs need.

Sandin will be top 4 in 2 years, easily.
Liljegren as well.

How Holl gets a raise is beyond me.

SDA will be on the team.

There’s a few more picky things but I’m too lazy to type them.

I think Holl and Muzzin are off to a bad start, but a 20 point season out of Holl with +15 plus minus should fetch him at least 3. I really like Gabrikov's style, so maybe they sign him and drop Holl?

Detroit doesn't want Mrazek back, And Greiss isn't signing for the cheap.

I agree with this but I don't see Mrázek coming back to Detroit especially for a 3rd. Detroit only got a 3rd for Mrázek 4 years and 3 teams ago. So for Mrázek to be worth a 3rd in 2 years he would have to play extremally well and at that point it would make more sense for Toronto to keep him. There will most certainly be cheaper and better options for a backup goalie.

In 2 years Greiss probably won't be worth $3.6M but thinking he will sign for under $1M isn't very realistic.

I'd hope that in two years there are some serious changes to the Leafs if they don't find success in the playoffs again, which by the look of things early on seem likely. I'd say every piece in the organization is on the block except Matthews. Doesn't mean you trade all the core guys but at least considering what you could get in return, ie an elite shutdown D-man and/or a true #1 goalie

Greiss will be 37, don't know if he'll regress or not, pure speculation

I really think Campbell has starting goaltender potential, teams that have star goalies don't trade them often. Yeah they lack that elite shutdown dman. If Tavares didn't sign, they could of kept Hyman, moved Nylander to centre, and went after a guy like Pietrangelo although he'd demand more money in Toronto for tax purposes.

Even if he does regress, You're probably still looking in the $2,000,000 range to sign him.
