Why not? He was a 15th overall, Poehling was 25th overall. Both are struggling finding time on an NHL Roster. Change of scenery could do both good.

We have a BOATLOAD of LD prospects several of whom are at or above Brannstroms current level.

Kravstov that is 2 competent prospects who if injuries hit this year will likely get playing time along with a 2nd rounder for a guy the team cant get to play for them.

Strome is the only one I would entertain.

All 3 teams will get way more than those scraps offers.

And yet he cant beat out Micheal Del Zotto or Victor Mete(who couldnt make the habs) for a nhl roster spot. Why? because HE CANT DEFEND. Even at the ahl level he is a defensive liability a good chunk of the time.

The habs have Romanov who is younger,and a nhl regular Guhle who at 19 made a strong case to make the team already and will likely be captain for team Canada in the upcoming world juniors, Norlinder who was one of the best dmen in the SHL last year, and edmundson is still signed for 3 more years. They have no need for brannstrom.

He was the only guy that could be sent down and had a 2 way in his deal. He was our 3rd best D behind Chabot and Zub in preseason and last year

Yeah well, no. Ottawa has no use for Poehling, they just traded a 7th to get Gambrell, which is maybe what Poehling hopes to become. Unless there's a major breakout in Poehling's game, he will never amount to much in the NHL.

And Brannstrom is not in the NHL not because he is "struggling". He was actually the Sens 3rd best D-man in preseason (and 4th last season on the big team)



As usual, Habs prospects won't be as good as they are marketed, while Sens prospects will be better than their very modest hype.

Their best left D is Guhle and he was projected as a 2nd pair guy. Him and Brannstrom are different types of D but I think both will be good 2nd pair guys

i think norlinder will be better than ghule and romanov and branstrom
