No. A slow start for marner isn't ideal but look at Tkachuk's season last year. Marner is a much better player however I do not think he will succeed in Toronto.

Yes, Tkachuk 's value at 7M is higher than Marner at 11M, that's the reality of the cap!! Marner is very talented, but invisible in playoff. Tkachuk is the kind of player you want in war, not Marner!

Tkachuk's contract is also ending soon you think he's gonna stay a 7M if he's "The Kind of Player you want in a war"?

Right now, in a cap reality, I'll take Tkachuk over Marner everyday! Next year, I'll pick Tkachuk at 8-9 M again over Marner. You should know what Marner can do in the playoff, a team will not win in playoff with Marner at 11M...

Agreed but let's not talk like Tkachuk has been lights out in the playoffs...they have both been bad.

Could only see this happening if Tkachuk requests a trade (unlikely considering his current deployment) which would lower his trade value and actually make Calgary want to move him. Otherwise I don’t see Calgary having incentive to move him without a decent overpay and this is a slight underpay

They’re very different. They both bring very different things to the table, and therefore i think it’s tough to say one is better than the other. I’m pretty confident tkachuk won’t be as overpaid as marner though.

If it was Marner and the 3rd rounder for Tkachuk alone, you might be onto something

No Marner is the better player. Look at the stats, The advanced stats, the anything. it will tell you marners better. the cap hit isn't great but Calgary can afford it.

Its a 5% difference plus marner has better stats
