Tbh I know Vitali wants to get moved but I think he would rather stay in NYR than go to ARI right now.

Vitali doesn't even want to play in Hartford. He'd rather play for the ECHL affiliate of Arizona before the Rangers.

A meaningless 4th and a player not coming back to your team is absolutely worth a top 6 rental.

Good point. I'm just saying he would play in the show for the Yotes but doesn't want to play for a team who is going to be dreadfully awful

How you give up a 4th and an unusable player for you rn for a top 6 scorer

Rangers need much more than a top 6 winger to be a cup contender. You are a fool if you think otherwise. The only swap that makes sense with kravtsov and arizona is for Hayton. As much as phil the thrill would help the rangers top 6, it's for half a season when they aren't competitors. Basically like giving those assets away for free rather than keeping/trading them for something that has the potential to make an impact in the future.

Eh. I doubt someone as young as him is already in hot pursuit of a championship (when it comes to picking a team). He'll take any destination where he'll get ice time, which is what he did not get with the Rangers.

You're one of them, eh. Someone who's too cowardly to rip off the bandaid, especially for a ****ing fourth round pick out of all things, just to keep accumulating futures like a rebuilder.
For the record, ANY playoff team is a cup contender by default.

Idk if kessel is a big need but he’ll help and can play up and down the lineup rn for only 3.4 mil

They would get railroaded by Boston, Tampa, Islanders, etc even with Kessel. If I'm "one of them, eh", you are "one of the ones" that hasn't realized that rangers overpaying for players past their prime while trading off their better assets hasn't worked. Did that all throughout the 2010's and look where it got us, not one cup and in a rebuild. NYR ARE REBUILDERS, whether you like it or not. They STILL do not have the pieces to put a championship run together, and kessel is not one of the pieces that pushes them to that level. Hayton would impact them not only this year (as NYR center depth sucks) but for years to come. Your move ONLY benefits this one year, and they don't have a chance in hell

Right wing is definitely a short-term scarcity for the Rangers right now. He would make a great placeholder.

Uh... it got us to three ECF appearances and one SCF appearance.. How many other teams pulled that off in the last decade?

There are about a dozen teams who would rather be in the Rangers' situation than theirs, period. On top of that, Barrett Hayton (even though I'd like him) is an unknown and you're clinging onto his pedigree when assuming that he'll benefit anyone for years to come. If you think the Rangers aren't a cup contender this season, that's perfectly fine. It's still way too early to evaluate whether the Rangers are definitive contenders or not. But if the Rangers have been in the top 3 in the Metro by the time February hits, it's compulsory to buy for the 2022 postseason whether you like it or not. As we all know, the status quo will get bombarded like it did at the end of the 2020-21 season. Furthermore, most rentals don't even come this cheap.

I thought that the goal was to win the cup? Which this move does not do. Yes it could win them a playoff series or two at most, but they won't get further than that. So really what's the point. It's simply bad asset management.

Duh, the goal is to win a cup. You have to also reach those levels if you want the ability to do that though. Now answer my question, how many teams accomplished that besides the Rangers?

Tampa, Washington, Islanders, Vegas, etc. essentially all the teams above I said the rangers would get crushed by. This type of move is something one of these teams should do as it improves their team and makes them a cup favorite. Rangers are not at that level.
