The value on Rust is probably fair, but Pittsburgh won't be trading him unless things go to hell and his contract demands are absurdly high.

Yeah I totally understand that; no reason for Pitt to trade him if they're trending towards a playoff run. Just a potential scenario

Edmonton rejects the Buffalo and Montreal trades, they do nothing at all to help the team. Pysyk is garbage and Allen has been far worse than Koskinen this year despite playing behind a FAR superior defense.

Pittsburgh rejects the third one.

Pretty much this.
Barrie is still a great puck mover and plays well with Nurse. I don't get the hate on him. He makes average 2nd line dman money. Pysyk just another bottom pairing dman which we don't want.
Oilers don't need a backup goalie like Allen. The fact that there is a 1st rounder going to MTL is insane. As of right now, Oilers need a young starter to grow with the team. They won't be giving up valuable assets unless that is the return.
Rust is a great player, but doesn't make sense since we need to extend JP in the summer. Rust would just be a rental, and there is zero complaints about our forward group at the moment. Obviously he would push down a Yamamoto or a Kassian, but thats really not necessary at all.

Having Rust and Hyman would be ridiculous. Those top 2 lines would easily be the best in the NHL.

If the Pens do trade Rust. I would imagine it’s atleast a late 1st.

A late 2nd and Lavoie would be close to the value Rust would bring back, in my opinion(if he returns healthy).

I don’t know what the Pens would do with Benson?? They don’t need any more LH shot forwards. Guentzel, Zucker, McGinn, Heinen, ZAR, OConnor, Poulin, Hallander, D.Simon.

I don’t see where a NHL ready( or close to NHL ready) Tyler Benson fits.??

I think R.Lavoie makes sense if they were to move Rust though. Maybe Filip Berglund, R.Lavoie and a late 2nd. Pens are light on RHD. Especially young RHD.
