That’s a tough trade for Washington. I’m 50/50 on that

Hm, the Toews trade could be interesting. I lobbied for something like that long ago citing how much the Rangers need a true leader and an upgrade at C to unify this team. With the money retained it could be just low enough for the Rangers to make it work.

Shouldn’t be, while he has some great potential he also has injury demons. You’re in win now while Ovi is playing and Kane takes you there instantly. Just means you get 1-2 cups and then 10 year drought of garbage while rebuilding

But it’s our future. I don’t know which one is more important. Can you change one of the first s to a second

😔

If NYR could give me back to back cups I wouldn’t care what it costed us. While Ovi and backstrom are still able to compete is when you go for it. Rangers gave up Doug Weight and Tony Amonte to win 94’

Would the hawks do that toews trade?

Rangers would be all over that.

If the cost is that cheap and we want to get crazy, they could even funnel him through a third party to eat cap hit for a prospect or pick. His actual salary is 2.9.

I think so, maybe we can squeeze out one more piece (kravtsov?) but it should be close to that imo. Guess it also depends what you think Georgiev is

Kravtsov is a pretty big 'small' add. With that retention, and Kravtsovs status, it might not be too far fetched.

What types of prospects are you looking for?

I’d love to see a regime change (and it’s happening). Then Chicago finally embraces a Russian superstar and miraculously lands Michkov. I’m hoping Michkov is a mix of Datsyuk and Ovechkin. Aka insane IQ with a perfect backhand and slap shot.

Kubalik-Dach-Michkov

Even without winning a Stanley cup I’d 100% tune in to see if a “power” forward line could dominate.

If we trade Kane and Toews it's a full rebuild, so any

Michkov will dominate no matter where he does. Kid is an absolute stud. As is Bedard

Lapierre and Kane each have one goal. Kane has some assists, but Lapierre has better plus/minus and is a bit younger, cheaper. Not sure the picks are on the right side of that one.

Not a fan of giving away Lapierre, and regardless, this puts the caps far over the salary cap once backstrom returns

Im interested if I am Ottawa. They have so many prospects and young players that they can easily afford to sacrifice picks to get an actual player.

And to comment the thread title, "The next Toews and Kane" for Ottawa are Shane Pinto and Tim Stutzle

They probably won't be as good but if they can be a high % of them, things will go well. They have many similarities

I don't think Lapierre or McMichael is available. With Backstrom and Dowd out, they're both playing middle six center roles in the NHL.

Kane is going to pick it up. I agree. What about Leason, 1st, WPG 2nd, 3rd, plus the Hawks' choice of Hagelin or Eller for Kane and Khaira?

The Caps can then trade the other of Hagelin/Eller elsewhere, and get just under the cap, I think, when healthy.
