I just came up with an idea.

I read this little story about how the former owners of the New York Islanders, Howard Milstein and Steven Gluckstern, cut the team’s payroll to something insanely low (can’t remember the actual number) to make a profit, which led them to trading away Zigmund Palffy and Trevor Linden, among others. What if you could use that as a punishment? For a team that does something particularly egregious (like what’s happening in Chicago right now) the league cuts their salary cap by a specific amount (let’s say 20 million dollars for the sake of an example). For every other team in the league this year, the cap is the normal $81.5M, but the punished team will have a cap of $61.5M.

How does it sound?

I mean I thought of this same idea.. but I was thinking like 1mil (80.5). Lol thats just actually crippling a team of innocent people w/ 20mil.

Well, he’s back on the bench now. Must have just lost a tooth or something. We see that all the time in hockey.

I think punishing those directly responsible will send a very clear and strong message to the rest of the league. Crippling the Hawks financial viability sounds overly punitive and won't accomplish anything.

8 goals in 7 games at 36 years old. This man is a freak of nature, and the greatest goal scorer in NHL history.

"The Blackhawks have implemented numerous changes and improvements within the organization, including hiring a new leadership team that is committed to winning championships while adhering to the highest ethical, professional, and athletic standards.

This is unbelievable. They still have their priorities reversed. Shouldn't adhering to the "highest ethical standards" come before winning? Did they even listen to the interview?

This may get me hate from Leafs fans, but I need to say it: you're in trouble if Campbell is your full time starter

Wild actually did something like that to themselves by buying Parise and Suter out at the same time. In two years time these guys are going to cause them a "cap penalty" of $15M dollars.

Period 2 just ended for Chicago vs. Toronto, this next 20 minutes coming up is the moment of truth. Will I be disappointed or will I laugh uproariously at ACGM tomorrow morning?
