Why swap out a core that is young and seems to be trending in the right direction for two overpaid pieces, one aging, one not performing that have won nothing more than the Flames core?

Flames never accept, summed up pretty well above, taking on too much salary, they get older, etc. Also Tavares has a NMC so he's not going anywhere.

The Leafs give up the 2 best players and have to add a 1st and somehow it's a gross trade for Calgary. Capfriendly is silly

Kerfoot isn't a c. Minnesota doesn't need anymore bottom winger especially one whose expensive. Minnesota's 3rd, and 4th line are one of the best in nhl in terms of the coach putting them out against any lines from the other teams, or when Minnesota needs momentum change
