If the Sabres were willing to retain 1.25x5 they'd do it with Eichel and skip Boston altogether...

How so? Doesn't that replace the potential of Hertl leaving?

Would Lysell over Studnicka be better? theres 2 young high prospects, 1st, and a player that has the potential for 40/50 point seasons

How in the world do you think this replaces Hertl?

Don't know how much you think Eichel is worth when he's missing more than half the season

I’m not fully convinced that Eichel package would even get you Hertl let alone Eichel.

Hertl is probably gone by TDL or the off season. Coyle was a sharks draft pick and you know how much GM's love bringing in their former picks lol

The whole point of moving Hertl is to get younger at C. Coyle is older than Hertl lol it makes no sense at all.

Is it not also cause Hertl doesn't want to resign there?

He was never even offered an extension yet. Neither side has said anything definitive about the future.

If SJ let's Hertl go via UFA then they would much rather keep that cap space for flexibility, not spend it on an overpaid 3rd liner like Coyle.

I do agree with that. my thinking behind it was that Wilson drafted Coyle in the first round and usually like to bring them back as an experiment

There we're several fabricated reports floating around.

He reported that he wants to compete and if the Sharks keep playing the way they have thus far they could be a competitor for the playoffs. He also mentioned how he has a home and close friends in San Jose and that he loves it there so I don’t think he wants out.
