Why would sens do that when we have such great D almost NHL ready.

Also, did you forget who the owner of the Sens is, you think he is paying that Salary?

Not sure how Subban solves any RHD problem. Certainly the Sens aren't giving up nearly that much for Subban.

That's a trade that could have been made 2 years ago when Subban was being traded from Nashville.

It’s a 2nd and a 3rd the other 2 are depth pieces I threw in to make way for more of the sens young guns. I believe he suffers from being a decent player on an awful deal if he was making closer to 5-6mil i doubt he would be scrutinized quite as much

I mean he’s only owed 6mil in salary this season not a huge deal. Also he’s just a placeholder. Dropping Mete and Sanford opens a hole for Brannstrom and Kelly. Hopefully they find a way to dump Zaitzev to allow JBD or Thomson up.

Also I wouldn't dump Zaitsev, at his cap hit he is good for guys like Brnastrom and Sanderson coming on to the team, and he is fairly liked in the lockerroom. Holden is kinda growing on me, but I would dump, Brown, Del Zotto, and even Mette before Zaitsev

This is a big overpay for Subban, but the real money on his contract is very low, that's why he was a popular topic for a double retention trade when the season was starting.

Subban makes only 2 M$ in salary this season, his bonus was already paid

I'd make the trade. Replace Mete by Josh Brown though

A 2nd and a 3rd is already a good return for Subban

The goal would be to extend him. But that's IF he would be identified as a good veteran stop gap and leader for young players.

I agree I only included mete because his play style is identical to brannstrom so the hole he would leave could easily be filled. I think as far as defensive trade options go Subban is a low risk trade worst case you just let him walk July 1st.
