I don’t get why Nashville would do that

I kind of did it assuming they miss the playoffs and decide to tear everything down

If you want to pay Rathbone $2M after just 15 NHL games then Lammikko with 91 NHL games must be worth more than league minimum.
I doubt Nashville would make that deal, though I wish they would.

Even with the retention, Myers is a considerable negative asset. I don't think this is a proposal that can be tweaked - it just doesn't get considered from NSH's side.

Rathbone isn't gonna have 15 games when the season is over. You also tend to pay better players more than the worse ones

At 4mil Myers isn't even close to a negative asset

Afraid I'd disagree with that. If he were a UFA after this season, I could see NSH taking him on as a cap dump in the right deal, if they decided to throw in the towel on this season. With two more years left after this though, it's completely unrealistic for the Preds.

Maybe not right now but if you miss the playoffs again don't you think a rebuild would have to happen?

You can disagree all you want but I guarantee if Benning offered Myers at 4mil he'd have 10 GMs calling. Just look at the money that was thrown at RDs this offseason.

I like Rathbone but the sample size a little small to be rushing to judgement. Also I like Burroughs over Schenn.

I'm more than confident Poile wouldn't be one of those GMs.

In addition to all the above points, the Preds have a considerable logjam at D. The trade would need to involve a forward to make sense.

Honestly, not sure I like the Fabbro trade from the Canucks perspective.

You're only saving net 2 mil ish in cap space while giving up a first and trading for more of a question mark on Fabbro.

Trading Myers is a weird situation because despite his high cap hit we still need him on the back end.

that 2 mill retained is going to suck when you have to sign fabbro, miller, horvat, hoglander, podkolzin and pettersson

Myers has been pretty good this year. It doesn't make sense to dump him unless we considerably improve, which I don't think we did here.

If Nashville was to look to tear it down, trading a 23 year old dman currently being given 1st pairing / 2nd pairing (him and Carrier are currently getting close to the same TOI) wouldn't be the go to. Fabbro is young enough to where he should still be in his mid to late 20s when the team comes back around. You might be able to snag our Myers if he keeps being outplayed by Fabbro and Carrier. Teams just don't typically deal good young players in a tear it down rebuild. There really isn't much to be gained by doing that.

Tearing it down would begin with trading (in no certain order) - Josi, Ekholm, Forsberg, Sissons. They are the oldest of the "core" of players (that have tradable contracts). Our Myers could be on the table as he currently isn't getting into the lineup (he needs to be in the top 4 in our defensive system but is getting beat out by Carrier, Fabbro, Josi, Ekholm).

From a Nashville perspective: it just doesn't make sense (and the 1st isn't in the right year).
