What Toronto needs is Muzzin insurance. Dunn is not Muzzin insurance trust me. His decision making can often get him into trouble more so then help his team.

On the other hand guys like Lindholm or Manson are Muzzin insurance as they can play 20+ mins a night and are good at both ends despite what their numbers suggest with the ducks.

In general, Muzzin-Holl is struggling but ironically enough its not Holl's fault as if we go look at the replays Muzzin almost every game is way out of position or getting beat by the forwards during puck battles which so far have led to 90% of the goals occurring for the opposing teams. This makes Holl look bad as he is often having to do more than what he is capable of. I got a feeling Muzzin is playing through an injury. Keefe should reduce both their minutes and give slightly more ice time to Sandin-Dermott who have been fantastic so far. This should allow Muzzin and Holl to find there game again

Forget who tweeted it (someone on Leaf twitter)

Either Muzzin is playing hurt - which is a problem

Or he's not hurt - which is a bigger problem

He is 100% in my mind either playing through an injury or aches and pains so to speak. He also does not seem to be in the right mindset as often when he pinches in its at the wrong time leading to Holl having to deal with a 2 on 1 and bam goal for opposing team

I think reducing his ice time a bit and giving more to Sandin and Dermott should smooth things out as once the Olympic break comes about Muzzin will have 3 weeks rest and like Rielly that should help him

But should the issue continue maybe try rearranging the Dpairings

where you go

Rielly-Dermott (Played well during the preseason)
Muzzin-Brodie (Brodie can help Muzzin better than Holl)
Sandin-Holl

Last night looks like Rielly picked up the slack for the rest of the top 4.

I'm all for a few more minutes for that 3rd pair. Something needs to change with Dermott soon. 13 min per game and no PK time does nothing to help develop his game.

It's not as if everyone in the top 4 is excelling in their minutes atm.

Dermott is basically the #5 Pker or the guy who fills in if Holl, Rielly, Brodie or Muzzin take a penalty. This is mainly because Dermott is better at preventing entries than defending in front of the net which is what effective PKer Dman are known for.

That said despite only playing 13 mins a night he ironically has been the Leafs best Dman with Sandin. I would honestly say it could be time to give him more minutes as for 2 seasons previous he did average 17+ mins a night.

Honestly if Im Keefe I would try Muzzin-Dermott as I believe that could be a stupidly effective shutdown pairing and will allow for Muzzin and Holl to find their game once they get used to their new partners.

I've been wanting that for 2 years. Considering both of them are great at stopping zone entries, and they can both move the puck effectively (when Muzzin is healthy). Dermott has never played with someone as good as Muzzin (for any length of time). There really would be no better time to try it out.

I got a feeling if Muzzin-Holl continues to struggle Muzzin-Dermott will be a pairing by some time in November

I'd also like to see Dermott given a shot on the PK instead of Rielly. Playing Rielly 24+ min per night including PK time is risky.
