Description

Yes it hurts that Varly has been out to start the season. I think he is a little better than Sorokin. Sorokin forced to play every Isles game so far and he has been great. Unfortunately two old defensemen man the LD starts. 38 year old Andy Greene and 44 year old Zdeno Chara. Not good. They should put a younger d man in those spots, but I don't get why Barry is trusting Greene and Chara. Off to a slow start, but Sorokin has really helped them in their past few games. I thought they would be top in the Metro but right now it'll be difficult.

The defense would be fine if Trotz just played his best defenseman significantly more than his worst defenseman. Pelech and Chara should not be within 1-2 of ice time.

it’s shocking tbh. most coaches give their top defenseman 23-24 minutes a night on average. pelech can play that much and the team is miles better when he’s out there. ridiculous.

With 13 straight road games to start the season, first in the metro was always a pipe dream. We'll be lucky to be at .500 when we're done and to be honest, I call that a win for us.

I would take Pelech off of the PK and just give him more 5v5 TOI. Give him ice time with all 3 RHD.

We’re also refusing to use a defenseman who dominated the 3rd best league in the world and is now too good for the AHL. They need to call up Salo, I’d rather play him than trade a high pick for a LHD

100%. if they trade for a LHD before salo at least gets a shot in the nhl, i’ll be pissed. the kid can play. we need his exact skill set desperately. he looks GREAT in the ahl and was great in the shl. call him up.

I agree - he deserves an extended look. I’d bet anything he’ll come in and have an immediate impact in the NHL. He’s 23 YO with a polished defensive game and wins most of his board battles. I dont know what they’re waiting for. The isles have enough experience on the back end , they can afford to insert Salo in the lineup. It also allows them to put Pelech an Pulock back together.
