Trade Deadline Moves

Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 29, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously the 2 biggest names but I got tired of seeing lazy trades where boston gets bent to acquire someone who isnt worth it or isnt giving fair value for others. looking at all past trade deadline deals where moves were made for certain players these are the rough packages that would be sent for expiring players at the deadline.

Please note these moves would be made based on accrued space at the deadline. there may have to be cap clearing trades done i dont know the nitty gritty of daily accruable cap space and the nuances behind it.

Lastly I know this wont get read, but if you have other 2c or 1LD suggestions. on who the bruins would realistically target post in comments. I could see a minor package similar to what carter got last year for getzlaf. or maybe a chris tierney is available for rental. In terms of dmen Gio/Leddy/Lindholm are my top 3 targets for that position.
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Lauko, Jakub
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
maybe a first depends on where his play is at heading into the deadline. 50 or so points will really only return this as a rental. not much more.
2.
ANA
  1. Senyshyn, Zach
  2. Vaakanainen, Urho
  3. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
probably be something like this. depends on lindholms injurys this year and how he looks production wise.

Boston would ideally be looking more for a true 2 way top pair dman.

after fact checking... 12th in voting was traded in offseason where prior season he had 62 points as a dman. still pretty good. like i said with hertl im projecting based on the 7 games. i do expect that to change like ive continually said but based on current projections this is what i expect. if he turns it around hes going to command more pretty obvious. i dont think the bruins should pay up beyond that price for the spot though. if its clear that hertl is the only guy available for a 2c role and the team is clearly lacking that at the deadline then paying up makes sense. i already see a major hole at left d so paying for both spots to go all in wont really be feasible.

Right now it is clear this team is lacking a 2C. They are also lacking a top 4LD. Don't have the assets to get both. Trading for one of the two won't get you anywhere if the Stanley Cup is your goal because this team still wouldn't be good enough. Sweeney had his chance this offseason. Have to live with his choices. Don't trade Lysell or any 1sts. If it means missing the playoffs then take your medicine and hit on the 20022 1st.

Agree that this isn't the year to be spending that much in assets for rentals, even if they've done well in re-signing rentals. That doesn't always work out, whether you lose them or sign them.
Keep the assets, draft and develop, evaluate - and make trades that aren't just for this year. Studnika is getting closer. Steen looked good in his first game this year. Hopefully Senyshyn puts it together - some good players develop slower and pass through waivers before they establish as NHL players. (Mark Stone is a good example)

Correct, keep the assets, draft and develop. Studnicka, Beecher, Harrison, Vaak etc. need to take over 3rd and 4th line roles as young, hungry and cost efficient players. That is just the half of it. Need elite level players as well to support Hall, Marchand, Bergeron, Pastrnak and McAvoy and need them sooner rather than later. Hopefully that is Swayman, Lysell, Lohrei and with some draft acumen and luck this years first in what is touted as a high end draft.

all the main guys last year went for a 1st and a conditional pick. ide assume thats the same for hertl fwiw. but it will come down to overall play. if he continues his pace based on these 7 games hes projecting: 35 points over an 82 game season. 23 goals and 12 assists. I said asset return is based on play.

I dont judge off of points that much. Hertl is playing like an elite player, but his line is snakebitten and has two young players he has to carry on it. The points will come

LOL because of the first 6 games of the season, Hertl is suddenly worth a fraction of what he would get 2 weeks ago.

hes going to command less than he would have 2 weeks ago at the TDL regardless of his play. you dont pay full sticker price for a rental.

which will factor into the equation sure. but if he isnt scoring. and his linemates arent scoring, and they keep jumbling the roster around to try and make things work. i dont see how hes worth more than a first and a 3rd MAXIMUM. initial offer that shows 2nd and lauko is low but im basing that on the projections. like i keep saying i fully expect him to be around 50 point pace.

Nick Folingo got more than that and Hertl is 10x the player he is.

toronto really messed that one up huh? but he would have been the perfect piece for them if healthy. on the contrary taylor hall got less than that and hes 10x the player foligno is, we all know hall forced his way here with the nmc but still. you get my point. value is set by who will pay what price for the player. you keep saying hes going to get more. teams have to offer that. i dont see it happening.

I think you would be stupid to not go all in on Tomas Hertl but thats my take. Teams clearly want him but the sharks are really trying to keep him if possible

i dont think you can afford to go "All in" in todays nhl, unless you want a decade of mediocrity/sucking. sharks kind of went all in, they got close a couple times what do they have to show for it. tampa went all in but they had young superstars on rookie deals or cheaper depth guys playing above their contract/roles. Sharks should sell hertl. recoup the assets at the tdl, then bring him back in the offseason. gotta figure out the kane situation too. thats such a mess. im shocked theres no out clause in those contracts that would make his deal voidable.
