Then instead of Kase + 2-3 others, you sign Copp for 5mil and leave the team with a 20-man roster.

Lol Muzzin traded so you can sign a forward? You don't get that return from the Oilers to help another team.

No need for another left shot 3rd line forward who is 27.

I have a lot of interest in Muzzin on the Oilers but would take quite a bit of manouvering to fit that cap. A 3rd party would need to eat 50% but don't think the Oilers could justify paying a 1st, 2nd, prospect, plus likely another 1st to the 3rd party for Muzzin. Also with Nurse's raise kicking in, this likely doesn't work without Keith retiring at year end.

Other GM can do the math. No discounts for Dubas. Kerfoot he'd have to give away. Muzzin is not getting that package from anyone plus you are not better when he is not there.
