Trade Deadline

Created by: arafay
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 30, 2021
Published: Oct. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know there is a lot a quantity going to nj for severson but they are all quality pieces as well. Hear me out: demelo is there to balance cap and cover the same term as severson while some young guys come up. (Basically just value that at like a 3rd). Then you have smith who is absolutely tearing up the ncaa and has been for a couple of years (most valuable piece outside the 1st). Then there is a solid young roster player with potential. He’s already a 4th/3rd liner and can play c.

Basically:
1st,
Young roster player
High level prospect
And cap balance/roster filler

For severson (retention is from 3rd team)

Also, this is assuming NJ is out of a playoff spot

I agree with @Jetman. Severson is alright, but that's way too much to give up.

Heinola or Stanley and a 1st maybe. I really don't see a fit.
Maybe Subban?

Heinola or Stanley?
I don’t think so…1 decent prospect, 1 decent pick.
That’s pretty fair for 2 years of top-4 d-man.

I mean Severson is a better fit on the devils then he ever would be on the Jets

In my opinion it’s worth it. Getting another big puck moving d-man would be a great add if the jest are going for it. The jets have prospects coming up and can afford to move smith. Harkins can be replaced with other young guys and severson is an upgrade on demelo

Definitely not on subban. Stanley is a roster player (who the jets need tbh on his cheap contract) and heinola is a top prospect. The jets aren’t really going to move either for severson who is great, don’t get me wrong, but not worth that much to the jets.

Those aren’t decent picks or prospects. Those are top picks and top young prospects/roster players. Heinola looks like a likely top pairing guy in the future and Stanley likely a top 4. And the 1st is a 1st. That’s too much for severson

Yeah, I can see where you're going with it. But it's just the degree of overpay you're advocating. There isn't a 1st round pick's difference between Demelo and 2 years of Severson, let alone throwing 3 other assets including a roster forward that needs to be replaced, on top of that for a marginal upgrade. Overall gaining Severson while losing Harkins and Demelo is a lateral move at best for the Jets, IMO.

I disagree and I think the step up between demelo and severson is much larger than you think. The difference is at least harkins and a 1st. Smith is more a make em bite add
