I disagree with the whole surgery thing. If I were the Sabres the only way I would've agreed to let him do that surgery is with the condition that if it fails, and your career is over, we (the Sabres) don't have to pay you a dime, because otherwise the Sabres potentially would have thrown $50M and any trade value out the window. Obviously, Jack wants this surgery and wouldn't agree to such a condition. I hope that he gets it when he gets moved, but until then I guess I'm with GMKA for now.

The trade proposed by Radu47 was also pretty unrealistic.

that isn't how contracts work, you know. also the surgery he wants is a lot more safe than the other one. it's not been done by any nhl players, but it has been done by normal people, and from that evidence it has a very high success rate, and its far less likely to require additional surgeries later in life. it's also far better for neck mobility than the fusion surgery.

No I know that isn't how contracts work, in fact I'm well aware of the fact. It may be safe for normal people, but Jack Eichel is an NHL player, worth 50M dollars. For the Sabres they don't want to play the risk that the surgery isn't right for an NHL player. They don't want to play the risk that something goes wrong in an experimental surgery (for an NHLer). I'll also remind you, if you want to talk contracts, that Eichel is violating the NHLPA/NHL agreed contract known as the CBA, in which, teams get the final say on injuries. That's why the NHLPA hasn't gotten involved, and why Eichel shouldn't file a grievance. I get your argument, and I respect it, as do I respect all people who side with Eichel, but I just wanted to provide a different, pro-Sabres perspective.

the CBA also states that a player is allowed to get outside opinions and present them to the team, if they feel the teams decision is incorrect, which is what eichel is doing.

Agree to disagree I guess, as I don't think the Sabres are incorrect as I've previously stated
