i mean, if i’m the islanders i do that today. but i don’t see why colorado would.

Byram is better and cheaper. They use the assets and flip to get Eichel retained

i don’t think buffalo retains on eichel in any situation, and i don’t think räty moves the needle on that? but idk

Cant see buffalo retaining. Send back some short term cap, but retention seems to be a bridge too far.

Buffalo has already said they won't retain and that's why they aren't talking to the Avs any longer about Eichel. Maybe their tune changes at some point but they seem to think they can get a good return without retaining. It's been floated that Vegas would give up Theodore to get Eichel but they've been asking for Krebs and I don't see why they'd come off that considering all the Sabres needs. I just don't see Eichel being in the cards for the Avs.

Not happening Adams already said he's not retaining on Jack Eichel, Supposedly there was close to a deal for Eichel by Colorado. But retaining was a no go.
GM's say many things when they are negotiating, $2,500,000 over 5 years is a lot, I am not sure if the offer is sufficient to warrant it.
On the other hand, I would keep the trade simple:
Kadri I would imagine he would not let any Sabre take a night off.
Girard a really good LHD that Buffalo could keep or flip to the Islanders as in this trade.
Bowers, and Newhook former first round picks that could be NHL ready this year.
Francouz a solid GK but I think the Sabres would prefer a different piece at this point in their development.
2023 1st round pick (COL) and 2023 2nd round pick (COL) very late picks
Would be a boat load without the retention, I think the Sabres would pass as Pysyk, Anderson and Caggiula have a combined salary less than the retention, and they have played nearly every game.
