If we signed Hyman, Reilly extension doesn’t happen and we’ll have a much harder time resigning Campbell

Unfortunately either one of those signings makes Campbell coming back difficult. But 5.5 is better than 7.5 🤷‍♂️

Am I the only one who thinks they shouldn’t resign Campbell?
And you could totally still sign Reilly. 1.2 Mill of the books from Kessel & 1 Mill cap raise next year already almost gets you there. If you need more, let Engvall walk as an RFA or move Dermott.

Yea but in the Reilly extension we can take Kerfoot/Ritchie/Holl off the books to make that signing happen.

It’s gonna still be tight and we’ll have Sandin and Liljegren to resign but it’s at least possible

Mrazek works well in a tandem. As a clear cut starter no so Campbell has to be re-signed. Leafs aren't a team that can pull goalies out of their asses so that makes it harder

I mean that’s easier said then done, but absolutely, IF those players can be moved that would help. But you still need to replace them. I’m sure I’m in the minority on this but having Rielly in the books till 2030 scares me

I agree.

On one hand I gotta give him respect for taking a home town discount

On the other hand I’m very sceptical of how Dubas is going to manage the team going forward with Campbell, Sandin and Liljegren.

I’m hoping the RFAs sign bridge deals

I feel like Campbell is too expensive to re-sign especially as a tandem piece. Guys with decent numbers can likely be had at much cheaper cost, like Halak. Or the Leafs grow a set & take a flyer on a young inexperienced goalie like Ville Husso & hope it pans out. Or option 3, you pluck a goalie from a team for picks or assets like you did already with Jack & Freddie before him.

So Leafs trade Kerfoot, it leaves them weak at centre. Somehow, you have made AHLer Joey Anderson a 3rd line Leaf. Now I will never know what the attraction was for Ritchie.

Leafs didn't want to give him that cap hit for term. And they're almost certainly right that they contract will look bad in a couple years. I'm actually impressed a gm actually is thinking long term when they rarely make it long enough to care.

$5.5M is better than $7.5M but a 27 year old is better than a 30 year old

i would rather the impacts of kase , Kerfoot and Ritchie apposed to just one hyman. Kase is on a steal of a contract and once the puck starts going in for him its gonna make people realize that, easily been one of the leafs best forwards of late

If we are nitpicking about age, Morgan turns 28 in March. Kinda feels like a tomato tomahto 🤷‍♂️
