No, he's a slightly above average defender and at that price we could do a fair bit better.

That's not even close to enough quality for Dumoulin. I don't think people realize what level Dumo is in the league.

That's exactly why the pens decline. First, TOR doesnt need it and two, pens could get more from a different team

A trade for Dumo means we're likely in a rebuild, so let's start with that. Now, getting him with term? The conversation starts with a 1st, 2nd and top prospect. Throwing in Heinen who's killing it and is an RFA? You're adding at least another 2nd.

Leafs should take that and run as fast as they can if the Pens did that. You get an RFA middle six winger and top five shutdown dman in the league. Those prospects are nothing. Abruzzese is a 22 year old 4th round pick and Hirvonen is a so-so late 2nd prospect.

No team is claiming Nick Ritchie with how bad he's been to start the season. He goes to the minors and you're still on the hook for $1.5 mil, putting you over the cap
