Maybe about Heinen. If someone offers a 3rd for him I think we should take it. Alot of cap room in the offseason plus if Poulin and Lagare are going to make the jump it needs to be next year.

Heinen is worth at least a 2nd, and even then we shouldn't trade him. Hes been on fire

Oilers don't need some random depth Forward the forward group is fine, this TDL is going all defence for the Oilers.

ZAR is pretty decent, but he would only end up being either a injury replacement or the 14th forward behind Jarvis. I like the move, but in reality we really don’t need him.

I think that was the sentiment heading into the season, and perhaps after the first couple of games.

IMO, the Keith-Ceci combination looks like it may not be the disaster many predicted, and it looks like Bouchard has now pushed Barrie down the line-up. There have been some weak moments in all seven games the team has played, but I think it is entirely fair to suggest that if not for Carter Hart's outstanding performance coinciding with Koskinen's one rough game the Oilers would still be undefeated. I recognize that Edmonton hasn't faced top-tier competition yet, but their game does appear to be getting stronger and there is reason for optimism. One has to assume there will be more substantive tinkering with the roster at some point; goaltending remains questionable, the 4th line needs improvement, and it will not hurt the Oilers to get a bit heavier and nastier for the playoffs, particularly on the blue line. I'm not sure that last component is as much a priority as it may have been a couple weeks ago though.

Some of the current holes on the roster (3rd pair, bottom-6) will be bolstered by the farm during the season, with guys like Holloway and Samorukov on track to impact the NHL roster this year.

It remains to be seen what the Oilers needs will actually be come deadline, because this team is better balanced than ever before. I suspect injuries will play a part in deadline targets next February.

Koskinen had a strong game in Vancouver. If he can put a few more of those together, and Smith can come back and stay healthy I think concerns will subside somewhat. Its going to be very difficult, perhaps simply not possible, for the duo to overcome the skepticism of many fans. Maybe McLeod brings some offense and more bite when he is called up, that would go a long way toward improving the 4th line. I will not hold my breath waiting for Holloway. If his injury heals as anticipated, he is unlikely to be ready for NHL action until very late in the season.

I agree the lineup has much better balance than many Oiler fans remember the team ever having, but I do think the roster will need to get heavier in preparation for the playoffs. Once the officials step back and "let the players decide the game" as they tend to do in the playoffs, we should be prepared to see the outrageous mugging of McDavid and Draisaitl once again. At that point, the team will not be able to rely on quick strike offense and the best Oiler talent will be draped with opponents and unable to pressure the puck as they've done so far in this regular season.

I'm not arguing that he has not played well. I am stating that many fans will not have confidence in him, although some may learn to appreciate him if he can continue on his current trend. I am also of the opinion that Holland will acquire a goaltender with strong playoff pedigree, if he can. I do believe the current priority is getting more from the 4th line.
