Fox is great, honestly probably could have gotten more. I guess 9.5 is the number that the nhl settled on for the top end of dmen

I didn't want to include signing RFAs to bridge deals because literally any GM can do that
Doesn't matter if Nemeth is not going to be a Ranger at the end of the deal. Rangers signed him to an unnecessary 3 year contract which they will likely have to dump in a year or two. If he was signed to a 1 year deal, it would be a good move
Othmann was a bad pick. Sure you can move players to RW but Othmann is gonna be stuck in the bottom 6. Rangers could have used the first on a center or LD or used it to acquire a player they need. No need to use the pick on a gritty winger

Othmann has skill too, its not like we picked the next Ryan Reaves, hes a swiss army knife kinda player so he can play in the bottom 6 to start if necessary, Kreider is gone by August 2024 also WE DON'T NEED MORE LD, also we won't have to dump nemeth he hasn't been nearly as bad as he would have to be would be for us to have to use assets to move him

Leafs have some competition

This is gonna be bad... At least with TOR, they're players are some of the best in the league (Not sure if I wanna include Reilly in that though, not right now at least). Not sure the same can be said about NYR's players.

I can't see how you think he's a good pick. Bolduc, Lucius, Bourgault would all have been better picks and fit the Rangers need.
Also you seem very certain that Kreider is gonna be gone in 2024. Along with Trouba. They both would have M-NTC but still would have massive contracts that no team would be interested in

I was hoping for Svechkov

Both are still useful players who comtribute and are great leaders, we'll definitely find teams for them

Svechkov would have been good too. Literally any of the 4 mentioned are better the Othmann

By 2024, Kreider is gonna be 33. Trouba is going to be 31 (when his M-NTC kicks in). Trouba is already showing signs of regression and Kreider will too. Both have a 15 teams no-trade list. I'm 100% sure teams rather keep their cap space than trade for a 6.5x3 contract or a 8x2 contract.

I just looked it up and Kreider has a FULL NMC through his whole contract. He just submits a 15 team no trade list on July 1st, 2024.

Good
- Resigned Fox which is a no brainer
- Resigned Zibanejad, another easy decision

Bad
- Traded Buchnevich for Blais and 2nd
- Traded a 3rd for Reaves
- SIgned Nemeth to a 3-year contract, stunting the growth of Jones, Robertson, etc
- SIgned Goodrow to a gross 6-year contract
- Drafted Othmann, another LW they don't need
- Signed Shesterkin to only a 4 year deal, should have locked him up long term

More Bad than Good

Sad hot takes like usual.
Fox at lowest possible cap.
Zib instead of selling farm for Hypeall.
Buch is too soft for 4x5.8m, hence the return, yet Blais will hit little debbies all day & 2nd.
Reaves, like other experienced depth adds is obviously making a huge impact already.
Nemeth is a good fit. You mean letting Jones, Robertson & BSchneider properly simmer.
Goodrow was a wanted man, and will be.
Othmann could be a C Perry. Crazy, but he's a left shot like most lol.
Igor will want to get paid, already 25, that was the lowest cap available.
Too much of a good thing is obviously worrying you lol

Weird I guess winning the Norris means you can get McAvoy money with 1 less year lul

Everybody knows the Norris is the OFD defender of the year. I'd argue McAvoy was the better defender last year. This year though? Fox takes the cake thus far.

At least the Rangers have 2 defenders that fall under that lol

I don't think bringing up that Trouba contract is the brag that you think it is

Assuming Fox doesn't fall off a cliff (which you wouldn't expect since he's only 23yr old) this should be a great deal for the Rangers for the life of the contract.

Not sure how this is deemed at good signing by 86% of folks who voted, but the McAvoy deal was only deemed a good signing by 55% of folks who voted lol. McAvoy and Fox are the same age and its nearly the same deal (McAvoy same hit, but 1yr longer) and they have similar metrics over the last 2yrs with 5v5 favoring McAvoy and all-situations favoring Fox.

Trouba at 30 with 2 years left will be VERY easy to move

Definitely not VERY easy to move
Remember he still has an 8M cap hit
He's going to be easier to move than Kreider, but if the Rangers give him the C, he's gonna stay

Rangers are waiting for Fox to earn his stripes so they can give it to him

Why isn't he an A this year?
I'm curious

Definitely EASY to move @ 2x 4m. Same with Kreider @3x 3.25m or following year @2x 3.25m. I doubt he gets the c, either way, the past says he doesn't have to stay!?

Well, they settled on it for two of the best and two of the most average in the league

He has given out like 2 bad contracts in Nemeth and Goodrow, what are you talking about? If anything, I'm quite surprised by how competent he has been so far given meddlesome ownership and limited experience.

you cant even be mad at the goodrow signing at the moment. that guy literally plays every position on any line.

Missed this one. Great signing for the best defenseman on the league. He's basically the next Brian Leetch.
