Would be very surprised if Monahan didn't have the Sabres on his 10 team NTC.

He made the list start of last season correct? So at the time the sabres had Eichel, Hall and all this future going into the season. Chances are he didn't not like them at that point.

And if so he can waive if he's promised to be flipped somewhere else.

As a Rangers fan who wished we could have landed him, I'm rooting for you guys over Vegas. Eichel can change everything for the Flames when healthy.

My understanding is that players submit a list once a year. Could be completely wrong. It's guesswork at this point anyway.

Having Eichel in Calgary could be good for hockey. Sets up a similar rivalry as Ovechkin - Crosby in the Metropolitan Division with Eichel vs McDavid.

Monahan is garbage and has very little value... you are also 1M over the cap so not sure how you plan on dealing with that.

As an Oilers fan, even though I'd prefer not to see Eichel on our rivals, the thought of having Connor vs Jack in the Battle of Alberta is very intriguing.



I believe they get to submit a new list every year. Very good chance Buffalo would be on it if he made a new list this summer. That said, Buffalo can promise to move him and they would be able to flip for a pretty penny if they retained 50% and flipped to a contender.

Would be great for Canada hockey. McDavid-Matthews-Eichel as the posterboys.

I think what’s holding Calgary back from making the trade is finding a trading partner for Monahan. What I think will happen is a 3 team trade where Monahan end up somewhere else and Buffalo gets all the assets similar to the Duchene to Ottawa trade.

Valimaki in this package puts way too much value given up, also makes the Flames over the cap. It has to be Zadorov instead of Valimaki, and Flames probably throw in an additional conditional pick
