VGK about to win the cup with the Ol’ Kuch technique, as perfected by TBL.

This is the best Buffalo could do with the circumstances.

Unless Eichel crumbles into dust, Vegas wins this.

What I find most interest about all of this are the conditions of the pick going to Vegas. I understand the conditions of the picks going to BUF. That happens all the time. Depending on how well the main piece of the trade affects the team.....the picks adjust accordingly. BUT Buffalo's pick going to Vegas depends on how well Vegas performs? I just find it interesting, that's all.

All the picks get bumped back a year if Vegas bombs this season. That's kind of insurance for Eichel being out and not being able to help them make the playoffs.

Wow Buffalo sucks at getting decent value for Eichel.... Tuch is a middle 6 forward Krebs has really struggled at the NHL level that could change but if we are all being honest with ourselves he'll likely not even be 60% of Eichel.... late 1st. if you are still a Buffalo fan you deserve a medal or a cookie something.... what a dissapointing return for a player who is a top 10 center probably a top 15 player. Woof 0/2 trading high end centers

Krebs is young but people on this site for some reason hype him like crazy.... not my pig not my farm but this is depressing.

Assuming the cap doesn't increase it looks like VGK will have 16 players and about $3.6 million in cap space next year. Can't wait to see how they manage this cap without basically becoming Toronto West.

The only way you can think Buffalo won this trade is if you think the Eichel situation was such a huge distraction that it was hurting Buffalo on the ice or in the stands. Otherwise, Vegas won, easily.

As a Canucks fan, I'm hoping they don't manage the cap and they have to have a fire sale in the off season.

I hate to try and make this post about the Blackhawks during a time that the Blackhawks are a focus in the league for all the wrong reasons… but how did Seth Jones cost so much more than Jack Eichel?

Because Eichel has a back injury and hasn't played in 2 years

I think a year or two from now everybody thinks Vegas fleeced Buffalo on this trade. Buffalo was in a tough spot though.

Because Stan knew he was losing his job months ago and Stan was playing with house money. He's not here, what does he have to lose?

Sabres are hopefully building a pipeline that will actually see some success. Lot of pieces to be happy about on this team, draft capital, and coming up in the future.

Obviously there was a limited market for an high cap injured player, so I think the Sabres did well. Maybe the poor performance by Vegas this season, due to injuries put them over the edge. Vegas will try to get playoff push from Eichel when he returns and then have him for four years.
Sabres, five years of Tuch, hoping Krebs and picks are good....plus 5m in cap space, don't think the Sabres could have done much better.

This is an all-in move for LV.... there are still so many conditionals (and I'm not talking about the draft picks)

If Eichel is healthy by the start of the playoffs (and not one ̶m̶o̶n̶t̶h̶ day sooner) and if his neck issues don't come back and if the Knights can make the playoffs without him or Tuch (they are currently outside of a playoff spot but it's still early), then it has a chance to work out spectacularly for Las Vegas.

If they have to do crazy roster moves because Eichel comes back too soon, if he comes in rusty and isn't a top center immediately, if he doesn't heal in time for the playoffs, if they miss the playoffs entirely, this will blow up in their face.

Summary: If LV wins the Cup this year, they win the trade. If not, they traded a 20 year old fringe NHLer, a 26 year old top 6 winger, and a mid first for a ticket to cap hell. What does this do to them next year? Is Reilly Smith gone? Do they have to pay someone to take Dadonov or Martinez?

Why wouldn't they keep him? He's 25yr old, signed for 4 more years at a reasonable cap hit and has played at a fringe 50pt pace the last 3 years.

Buffalo's track record of keeping top talent really aint a good one in this modern age.

O'Rielly, Reinhart, Kane, Eichel, Ullmark, even Hall though he wont admit it, they all wanted out as they just could not take it there anymore.

Tuch may stay a year or two but like what happened with everyone above hes gonna ask to be traded at some point

As long as the Pegula's keep interfering in the Saber's affairs got a feeling the list is only gonna get bigger.

Nobody wants to stay in Buffalo lul

Reinhart - Was a RFA
Risto - Is a pending UFA (and he's trash anyways)
Hall - Was a pending UFA
Ullmark - Left via FA

O'Reilly and Eichel were the only 2 with term on their deal like Tuch. Tuch in Buffalo should get a chance to play big minutes.

Does not matter lul all were unhappy with Buffalo and asked to be traded. Even if they had term Buffalo would have probs moved them as when you got unhappy players it creates a toxic atmosphere in which nobody is happy. Tuch got good minutes in Vegas avg 17mins (same as Olfosson rn) but lets be real how long will he want to play in Buffalo. No offense to them but the Pegula's are gonna continue ruining this team and the atmosphere will make Tuch ask to go as we could see him underperform like Hall did the previous season. Just hope we dont see them break him like what almost happened with O'Rielly.
