trade deadline thoughts

Description
If Buffalo slips in the standings and the sharks stay close to playoff contention I think this would be a solid plan. we may have to add.. or not we will see.
Tuch adds another Rh shot and is a solid middle 6 RW we badly need.
Gives Hertl a solid wing to go with the emerging Eklund, giving us a legit top 6, pushing Balcers and Labanc to the 3rd line where they could thrive with Weatherby who has looked solid and provided some depth scoring to our bottom 6 already. this would start looking more like a playoff team IMO.
Simek is traded to open up a spot for when Knyzhov comes back and Merkley has looked better than I expected the last 2 games, this is hoping he continues! And if not we have 4 other D men who have looked pretty good these last few "Covid" games as well.

Covid hit us pretty hard, but it has shown the depth we are cultivating in the AHL and it's actually been a blessing in disguise.

If Kane could be added without destroying our locker room this would be a sure fire playoff team in my eyes, even without him we look like a fringe playoff team IMO.

Feel like it would to be a bigger deal for Meier or Hertl. Otherwise we'd be better off to just keep him.

Sabres need Tuch infinitely more than they need anything from that trade.

why are Buffalo fans instantly saying a guy who has never played for them and wont till January at the earliest is untradeable?
you guys are looking to rebuild and wont be playoff contenders for 2-3 years min. I'm trying to be fair but this is getting ridiculous fast.

There are more factors then just what you are saying. Tuch will be a veteran presence on a team that doesn’t have much there. They will be very young across the board, they don’t need to get younger like this trade would accomplish. Add on that he’s not super old, from the area and if they eventually start to compete would resign in Buf, you don’t just trade a guy like that. He’s not untouchable from a talent perspective but IMO he was in the trade for a reason outside of talent. Maybe that clears why Sabres fans don’t want to just turn and dish him, and also why there have been about 15 ACGMs made trading him all to a resounding no thank you.

Buffalo declines

Just because Robins might be “our 2nd best C prospect” and Melnichuk might be our “top goaltender prospect” doesn’t mean they have actual value; both of them are actually pretty bad.

Nothing would make me smile more than to see a player that gave us so much torment give Vegas a taste of their own medicine. That said, Tuch grew up as a Sabres fan and Adams thinks he'll be a key player for Buffalo's core going forward, so I doubt Buffalo would trade him in particular. Why not Olofsson since he's a solid winger who is consistently one of their top scorers?

Yes thank you for rejecting this offer, the sharks would be stupid to trade Robins.

LMAO no actually they don't but whatever NY keep up the crazy thought that you can get more just to see you guys trade players for way less.
Dude your a sharks fan you should know about Robbins by now.

Only reason I would is because we have Bordeleau who is very similar to him. but your probably right not wise to trade him.

I think it’s just too early to trade these guys, we have no idea what they will become. Bordeleau has been okay this season, but man Robins has been fantastic this season and the last two for the blades.

I love Robbins I do guys, the ONLY reason I made that deal is because I think Bordeleau is better and they are both very similar players in size and skill.

it really isn't. Robbins will be a top 6 player, and again I Literally asked if this was enough. but be a jerk about it why don't you!

if this is true then I definitely made a calculated error! I'm just looking for a top 6 RW with a RH shot to compliment the team.

That's what I mean't by "bigger deal". We don't have to make a move that is unnecessary for a big piece of our future.

Fair, and if Tuch really was a Sabres fan growing up it makes him likely to want to stay and help rather than demand a trade. My initial thought was he was a rental for you guys to swap at the deadline once he is healthy.

Not sure why that would be optimal for the team?

...Tuch grew up as a Sabres fan and Adams thinks he'll be a key player for Buffalo's core going forward... How do you know this? I would like to think it is true.
Here is the skinny, if the Sabres wanted prospects they would have asked for Brisson and more.
Tuch is big (220 lb) and can skate really fast.
The Sabres are near the top of league completing their stretch passes, Tuch will fit in perfectly with the system.
His contract is perfect making UFA the same year as Jack with half of the cap hit.
I hope they keep Quinn, Peterka, Laaksonen etc. in Rochester the entire year, this team even with them is not playoff ready.
Next year they will have 4 2nd line centers, Cozens, Mittelstadt, Thompson and Krebs, two top LW Olofsson and Skinner, two top RW Tuch and Quinn and a deep defense.
That may not be as Stanley cup team but it will compete and be in the mix until March IMO (my evaluations have been wrong as I thought the team was be better in 2018-'19).
The return for Jack is less than many expected, but the Sabres got a top RW, a potential 2nd line Center, first and a second.
I hope Tuch grew up being a Sabre fan, hopefully he will sign for another 5 years at the end of this contract.

you guys are in a rebuild, and there is a lot of turmoil with your franchise, my hope was Tuch would want out and you guys would swap him for assets, i wasn't digging deep just a simple thought.
