Initial Creation Date: Nov. 5, 2021
Published: Nov. 5, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. 2022 6th round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
If San Jose is playoff race and needs cheap vet centre.
(They always seem to pick up Wild players).
Could also be any team as cap dump.
SJS
  1. Rask, Victor ($2,000,000 retained)
2.
MIN
  1. Smith, Reilly
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
- Wild get player with proven playoff success and an established player to play with Fiala.
- 2nd rounder is good value for Greenway, his value is getting overblown he's gonna be no better than a 3rd line checking forward.
- I think this trade works for a push this year while we have cap while also gaining futures, a Guerin type trade in the past.
VGK
  1. Greenway, Jordan ($1,050,000 retained)
  2. Johansson, Filip [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
- Vegas gets a winger that not too many would be better than at $1M and they can use bottom 6 size.
- Get former first rounder that's not likely to be anything but I guess there's some value in order to get a deal done.
- Vegas saves $4M in cap.

Vegas doesn't save 4m The later the trade is made in the season, the more Vegas has paid Smith's 5m cap,

Russo is saying Jordan greenway injury is long term so I don't see him getting traded, injured player can'get traded. My guesss: He's probably just walking into free agency.

that doesn't matter though they'll still need to move out cap hits when their players return no?

Buffalo and vegas just swapped injured players, so yes you can trade an injured player, however your right that this doesn't make a lot of sence

Is greenway going LTIR? I didn’t realize it was that serious.

I thought he just said on his podcast that it was just unfortunate timing nothing about LTIR. He also said he thinks Greenway will be moved.

I saw a tweet he responded to on his page yesterday that said he has an injury that lingers, and he's not coming off anytime soon.

i'd think so. type of injury that needs time usually and then lingers

Sharks need to stay masked up more than anything.

Sharks aren’t doing that, not paying to take on a cap dump.

We already have a cheap vet C in Bones. Cheaper than Rask with retention and better in so many ways. Easy nope

I think that Rask at half price will be a good piece for a playoff team lacking C depth going into the playoffs and the late round pick is a fair price but I just don't think the sharks are the right trade partner unless they deal Hertl and want NHL bodies to throw on the ice.

Injured players absolutely can get traded. Eichel was just traded and he'll be out most of the season. And he's an RFA, not a UFA, so he can't "walk to free agency", unless you're implying we won't extend a qualifying offer (which would be a bad idea, we could just trade him and it's hard to imagine he doesn't have positive value)
