Karlsson would Veto this in a heart beat, Sharks would probably decline.
Few issues trading Karlsson,
#1 He has a no movement clause, meaning he has to approve any trade. has said he likes the sharks and the organization and where it's headed (he sees something we don't I guess)
#2 issue is behind Burns and Karlsson they haze zero in the way of RH D.
#3 other than Merkley (who has looked good the last few days but is no where near top 4 min ready for at least 2-3 more years, if ever) we have no prospect depth at RD anywhere close to NHL ready
#4 Wilson's ego! he wont trade Karlsson and admit he made a mistake!
I would probably do a Skinner for Karlsson deal if I was the GM, but why would Buffalo? they have a ton of really good D prospects right now and a bunch of young talent and plenty of cap space! why pick up an overpaid declining D man and burden themselves for 5 years at 11.5 mil a year?
best idea for Buffalo is do the same thing for the next 2-3 years... find decent cheaper vet depth and leadership signed short term, open a ton of spots for young kids to fight for and let the roster build itself through the draft and prospect pool
If you want to really make a contender and a perennial playoff team then...
Sign the best scouts, trainers, and coaches you can. revamp the medical department and facilities, eliminate the dysfunction and make Buffalo a place players WANT to come!
not trying to be a dick but the medical staff has quite a few blunders (Eichel for example) I've seen an ton about locker room and management dysfunction, and I've seen player after player demand a trade and want our (Reinhart and Eichel and Ulmark as the most recent examples.
