Well every post I see has Vegas with a 10m cap hit for Eichel, and needing to trade Smith and Dadavonv In what world does Vegas have his cap hit for his term with Buffalo and his months of LTIR. The post shows a more reasonable two months of Eichel and his realistic cap hit.

i’m pretty sure when you’re using LTIR you don’t accrue cap space like this, and need to fit the entire annual contract under the cap. most of the media around this is saying they need to fit the full contracts in if he comes back in the regular season and i’ve looked for more info on this and haven’t seen anything different. puckpedia gave the only sentence that really says anything about it and said “when a player comes off LTIR, the team’s annual cap hit for that day must be under the Cap,” so it’s the full contracts i think.

Yeah, but the teams annual cap hit is accumulated daily. Eichel hasn't been accumulating any cap this season. Eichel's daily per game cap hit is about 120,000 per game.

You get relief for while a player is on LTIR. the only way you get full relief is if that player is out for the whole reg season like Tampa

Well that ain't right. Teams aren't punished for having injured players.

Correct they aren’t punished for them being injured, but they also don’t get rewarded. In order to bring the player off LTIR their cap has to fit. The Blues had a similar situation with Tarasenko last year but Sunny ended up going down and created the space necessary.

If Eichel plays before the playoffs, they’ll have to clear around 5M in cap space

It doesn't make sense otherwise a team of a $80M cap hit at beginning of the season would have like $64M in cap space at the deadline with the pro-rated cap hits.
