None of those teams say yes. Maybe new jersey. But yikes!

First Lias Andersson, then Vitali Kravtsov, now Alexis Lafreniere.

The Rangers need to clean house on their development staff. How many top 10 picks can they waste?

All very different situations. Lias just wasn't that good and we were getting rid or him before he lost all his value. Kravtsov still has a huge future but seems to be in too much of a rush. And Lafreniere will still be a star but plays a position that we are very deep at and wold be getting us a future top-six centre.

First Lias Andersson, then Vitali Kravtsov, now Alexis Lafreniere.

The Rangers need to clean house on their development staff. How many top 10 picks can they waste?

                    Oof so impatient

                    - Lafrenière still very young (despite looking 30)

                    - Very few elite talents start out elite in the NHL

                    - Lafrenière has had a sneaky good pts/60 so far

                    - Development is a very overstated factor at NHL level; these teams work directly with prospects for a few weeks a year, they assign them with a message and then hope for the best. Lias and Kravs barely played in the AHL also. There's only so much a team can do.

                    - Lias and especially Kravs are still quite good

I expected Lias to be better as he was so mature for his AHL with superb NHLe, but maybe it was an early growth spurt, Kravs wasn't ever *that* good

                    But Mercer and Mctavish tho?

It is not easy for me to say as Ranger fan, but Mercer is really good. I think he is better than Hishier and Hughes. McTavish fits the style Rangers are trying to build. I think another piece would have to be involved from the Ducks.

All very different situations. Lias just wasn't that good and we were getting rid or him before he lost all his value. Kravtsov still has a huge future but seems to be in too much of a rush. And Lafreniere will still be a star but plays a position that we are very deep at and wold be getting us a future top-six centre.

But still three top 10 overall picks that aren't panning out for the Rangers. At some point, the fault ceases to be with the players and instead belongs with the team.

It's either the scouting staff that chose to draft the wrong player, management who opted to call up the player to the NHL before he was ready, or the coaching/development staff that was unable to help the player reach his potential.

None of those teams say yes. Maybe new jersey. But yikes!

I'm not a Rangers fan but let's not act like Dach, Zegras and Byfield have been lighting it up either. They only have 1 more point than Lafreniere while playing top line minutes with excellent linemates such as Kane, DeBrincat, Terry and Comtois. Lafreniere has been buried on the fourth line with Rooney and Blais.

The thing I notice is that almost time Lafreniere touches the puck, he defers it a teammate. He never holds onto it to make a play or pull a shot off. To me, this suggests the coaching staff don't believe in his abilities and are trying to develop him into a different player than what he was drafted to be. They are mostly playing him with Rooney and Blais which is more of a dump and chase checking type of situation.

But you are still trying to connect the dots on each, but I am telling you they are all very different situations. Lias was a bad draft pick for that spot. Kravtsov is more a relationship problem, and Lafreniere, if he were ever to be dealt, would be to sell surplus to fill a need.

Points aren't everything. You can't use Points to judge a player and their game. None of those teams besides maybe new jersey say yes.

Yes. Exactly. Just a busted pick, that is all.

Why is Byfield even on this list? He hasn’t even played this year.

He had a small cup of coffee with 6 games played not playing top line minutes at the end of last season.

These are all young players, drafted 2019-2021. Rangers would be betting on his future production.

                    Maybe.

No. Mercer has been the teams best forward since Hughes went down, at this rate he'll end up being the 2C behind 86.

I understand the young prospect part but the sentences after the first one sounds like Byfield has played in games like the other 2.
