First Lias Andersson, then Vitali Kravtsov, now Alexis Lafreniere.

The Rangers need to clean house on their development staff. How many top 10 picks can they waste?

The last player they drafted that has scored 60 points (not just ON the rangers) was in 1990, last forward was 1988

The thing I notice is that almost time Lafreniere touches the puck, he defers it a teammate. He never holds onto it to make a play or pull a shot off. To me, this suggests the coaching staff don't believe in his abilities and are trying to develop him into a different player than what he was drafted to be. They are mostly playing him with Rooney and Blais which is more of a dump and chase checking type of situation.

Points aren't everything. You can't use Points to judge a player and their game. None of those teams besides maybe new jersey say yes.

Well then, what do you use to measure a forward's quality? Lafreniere's individual contributions are in the same range as both Zegras or Dach.

                    Lafreniere: 0.78 iXG/60 + 0.8 xA/60
                    Zegras: 0.87 iXG/60 + 1.01 xA/60
                    Dach: 0.81 iXG/60 + 0.9 xA

For reference to compare him to similar style players:
                    Panarin - 0.715 iXG/60 + 0.8 xA/60
                    Kaprisov - 0.68 iXG/60 + 0.68 xA/60
                    Marner - 0.8 iXG/60 + 0.88 xA/60
                    Marchand - 0.88 iXG/60 + 0.84 xA/60

Agree, for a player of his talent who has been able to generate strong results, they have to let him showcase his talent first to build some confidence. Everything else comes naturally after that.

What about the other guys (Byfield, Mercer, Lundell, McTavish)?

Agree, for a player of his talent who has been able to generate strong results, they have to let him showcase his talent first to build some confidence. Everything else comes naturally after that.

They don't seem to realize that they still have a lot of developing left, half of their core aren't close to finished products (Kakko, Lafreniere, Chytil, Kravtsov, Miller, Lundkvist, Jones, Barron)

My biggest worry is the timing issue. Kids arrive just as Vets decline.

Maybe if they cared more about properly developing their kids instead of stealing standings point they haven't earned like they should, then maybe the kids might be ready in time

What about the other guys (Byfield, Mercer, Lundell, McTavish)?

Byfield and Lundell are in the same range as Lafreniere. Mercer is much higher than all these guys.

Yeah man, you don't want to make the same mistake that the Leafs made. When the team was still rebuilding and players still developing, they decided to suddenly go all in.

None of those teams say yes. Maybe new jersey. But yikes!

One says Mercer should be cheapest, one says Mercer is higher than rest. If he is best of the group and is also the cheapest, that would be the best option I think.
