i dont like the idea of trading kassian due to what he brings as far as physicality, however something has to give if we want to keep JP and upgrade goaltending.

tears of joy Not even close. You probably need Koskinen (for cap), Yammamoto, a first and second.

Or Koskinen, Yam, Broberg and a first

I like the idea of Saros plus it kind of makes sense for the Preds (Askarov and Ingram coming up) but that's nowhere near close in value.

Koski's contract is done after this year, this is shown as an off season trade.

That said, Saros is essentially untouchable. You could offer them the equivalent of like 4x 1sts and they probably still walk. Oilers ask for Saros, Nashville asks for McDavid/Draisaitl/Nurse and that's about as far as the conversation goes.

Why go after Saros? He'll cost far more than he adds to the team. Here is Oilers goaltender results compared to Saros' results the past 2+ seasons.

2019-20
Koskinen: .917 (38 GP)
Saros: .914 (40)

2020-21
Smith: .923 (32)
Saros: .927 (36)

2021-22
Koskinen: .920 (8)
Saros: .925 (10)

Saros is better than either Smith or Koskinen, but by playing whichever one is rested and ready (or whichever one is playing well) they've managed to get just about as good results as if they had a superstar netminder. Holland knows this and has spoken about it many times. He isn't going to blow the bank on an elite guy just to get a smidgen better. If someone comes along for a reasonable price* then sure, but two top prospects ++? Ain't going to happen.

*If NYI is looking to move cap out next summer, I could see Holland moving a 2nd for Varlamov. That's the kind of goalie shopper he is.
