Philly doesn;t need a RD this year, but with Braun and Risto as UFAs, its possible in the offseason. (While Cam York is a LD, Egor Zamula is learning RD, so a provorov-ellis, york-trouba/risto, sanheim-zamula defense in 22-23 is possible)
Hayes carries more value both in production and contract (length and salary).
The only way it works is if Frost/Foerster develop, NYR add something remarkable (a 2nd and more) or a 3rd party retains 2mil of trouba or more. As another poster said, Philly probably re-signs Risto in that 6mil range, and moves JVR to afford it rather than Hayes.
I think even based on limited sample size in Philly, Risto is resigned for 6-6.75 or Flyers take that Trouba money and go for Klingberg.
