The Oilers are poised to be a top-5 team in the league, god forbid that they might make the second or third round this season. Firing Holland isn't going to be an option for Nicholson. Maybe Tippett gets replaced in-house by Woodcroft and his choice of staff?

Another year of Koskinen-Smith makes the city riot. There absolutely must be some semblance of an attempt at an upgrade in net this offseason.

Through 10 games they both have 0.920 sv%. If they finish the year with similar numbers I'd be ok going back to it. There's no Markstrom type up for auction next year.

😑

Small sample sizes people come on now

Sv% normalizes for goalies after 3,000 shots

Oilers as a team have faced 339 shots

They're 34 and 39 too

Anomalous goalie stats so far:

Bobrovsky @ .948
Reimer @ .946
Holtby and Quick @ .924
Helle @ .899
Petersen @ .898
Grubauer @ .886
Hutton at .741 too lol

10 games is incredibly unreliable

I said IF they finish with similar numbers. That said, Smith had a 0.923 last year in 32 games and Koskinen had a 0.917 in 38 games the year prior so it's not like these numbers are outrageous. It's not crazy to think that the Oilers could get a team sv% above 0.915.

What I was getting at was if they continue this year with slightly above league average goaltending, and there is no clear-cut solution in the UFA market, I would be ok going back to it.
