They're like the Penguins in a way- until their top guys are totally washed, they can and should go for it. Especially with McAvoy and Pasta in their primes right now and Hall in the fold. Bergeron and Marchand still got it. That's a great core that just needs an adequate cast (and, uh, maybe a second line center)

BOS is a very solid team. I think it's worth BOS getting Strome. Krejci was never the fastest guy. There are similarities between the two styles of play. Obviously Krejci > Strome, but Strome can be had for fairly cheap imo.

ya personally i like both strome as they both resemble parts of krech's game. dylans size is intriguing. id rather not give up forbort as he is one of our only good dmen who's solid in the dzone and likes to play a physical game. would rather move prospects or draft picks to acquire a center

I agree, they just need to find a more offensively talented center to be with Hall.

Yeah Strome is a play driver and chance creator. He would benefit from playing alongside two fast and physical wingers.

Is Forbort good? Could always swap him with Reilly if you want.

I agree. The hard part is BOS doesn't really have a ton of prospects that other teams are interested in. I'm not trying to be mean, just realistic.

I don't see the Hawks swapping a 24 year RFA for a guy going on 30 years old. Hawks are trying to get younger. Maybe on ice talent and production the trade makes sense as an even swap but just don't see a team at the bottom of the NHL and rebuilding doing this.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess it would make sense if BOS gives up someone like Zboril or Vakaninen?

Strome has been a healthy scratch for a bad team, but he'll be a 2C for a team looking go contend for a cup?

Also @exo2769, Forbort has been awful and one of the worst d-men on Boston. In fact every d-man's advanced numbers are better away from Forbort

I see this potentially to be a Sam Bennett situation. Strome's underlying numbers the last 3 seasons are very strong, so he is more likely to breakout if given the opportunity to play alongside offensive linemates.

I don't think Strome will come cheap anymore now that Stan and JC are gone. Hopefully for us he gets that new opportunity and grasps it with both hands and doesn't let go.

I don't remember saying anything about Forbort, but i appreciate you including me into the conversation! Thanks. I hear and agree with you about Strome's value, but this trade isn't happening today. As someone that watches the Hawks pretty religiously...there's ALOT the team has done wrong with Strome. I mean it really is just as simple as pointing out the obvious to know something's up. You don't go from scoring 51 points in 58 games to healthy scratch without something very wrong happening. The Hawks have been trying to force him into being a player he just isn't. It's the 2nd dumbest move I've ever seen the Hawks make and it's only 2nd to trying to make Kane a center in 2011-2012.

Strome is not the best 2-way player, but I'm also not saying you need to give up Lysell. What I'm saying is that if you're looking for a center that can help drive offense. That is what he can do. If you want Hertl, fine Fabien Lysell is probably the price for his services. That's a different story and a different price point. As a side note, I want Strome to take over Toews's spot on the #1PP for the Hawks. AND Toews is my favorite Hawk of all time.

Strome has pedigree, yes, even now his player usage isn't good. So it'll be tough to get good value back.

I can't even depict what type of player Colliton has tried for Strome to become. After Dach came back from injury he just got thrown on the fourth line as a winger, just seemed to be treating him like a fringe NHL player.

Its been 1 game so far with the new coach and that was without any real training sessions. Id like to see more time given before I give any judgement.

    Maybe it was Dekes lmao.

Strome has seen his p/gp drop year over year and his first year with CHI

    0.88
    0.65
    0.43

This season (while early) is 0.17 p/gp. If you look at his other advanced numbers, many do the same. Strome isn't an upgrade over anything we have in our top 9.

Eh, I wouldn’t say point totals alone are a great way to measure a forward’s impact because it doesn’t take in the context of his situation.

Strome’s 5v5 points per 60 from 2018-2020 is 2.5, in contrast. To compare, Kane was at 2.7 while DeBrincat’s totals for 2018-19 & 2020-21 was 2.4. So he is roughly in the same range as CHI’s top players in generating offence.

Last season, he spent most of the season on the fourth line as a right winger. Most of his points came when he centered Kurashev & Hagel, that line was also 1st on Chicago last season in xGF%. I’m not saying Strome should be ideal target for a team like BOS, but I think he would be a high reward type of player that wouldn’t cost any major assets. Plus I think stylistically Hal would be a good winger for him.
