I would have to say Johnsson for the Devils
No one expected him to be almost a point per game

Not great with advanced stats but damn, didn’t know his even strength defence could get worse

Miller has been great but he’s been a PPG player since he came to Vancouver so not that surprising he’s doing well . I’d say OEL is the most surprising or Garland

I would have said Ovi, but given how Kuzy just came off a rather weak season and now he's putting up over a point per game, I personally like him more. Ovi is still a great pick though.

This contract is going to age terribly. I’m probably in the minority but even with the 2 year age difference I’d rather Hyman for 8 years at 4.5 with a NMC then Rielly at 7.5 for 8

So all he has to do is shoot more got it lul. Does not seem that bad as if he shoots more than it balances out again.

Now if Everything was red that would be a concern

Imagine if that was gonna be his first NHL goal

Letting zach walk was a horrible choice. I’m watching this game and there’s so many times matthews and Nylander are creating phenomenal chances and bunting drops the freaking ball. Love bunting but he’s not line 1 material at ALL

So you wanted to keep someone whose contract would be good for 2 years than age like Milk...No thank you...

Cause if we look at players like him who signed big deals yeah the track record aint good (Ladd, Okoposo, Lucic to name a few)

Bunting is fine. Makes 950k and reminds me of Hyman the first 3 years he was in the NHL and ironically had the exact same issues. Dont believe me go look at Hyman's stats they were terrible in the offensive zone. At one point his shot and his offensive drive were so bad people wondered if he had a future as a top 6 player rather than a 4th line grinder. It was not until year 4 he got it together with JT and Marner.

I 100% agree that it’s a good decision in the long run, short term loss long term gain, I know. But it’s hard to not feel envious when you see the season hymans having
