Jacob Markstrom’s start to the season:•14 games•.959 5v5 save %•.942 save % overall •9.3 goals saved above expected (via NST)•5 shutouts •Gave up 3 goals combined in his 7 wins
I came THIS CLOSE to getting him in fantasy, dang it dang it dang it (although I did get MacKenzie Blackwood, who's been pretty darn good so far)
What’s crazy to me is Kipper holds the Flames record at 10 shutouts in one season. But what I find even more impressive is had back to back seasons (07 and 08) where he played 76 games 😮
I'm so dang angry right now, very unlike Vasi to be caught out of position on the Mercer goal and then to have Sharangovich's game winner leak under his pad, and then Pointer rings it off the crossbar after beating Blackwood (to add insult to injury, Point is on my fantasy team)

I'm just furious right now. I get the 10-game point streak had to come to an end eventually, but I'm not used to the Lightning blowing 3-1 3rd period leads, let alone managing to do it IN REGULATION.
Look, the score sheet merely shows that MacKenzie Blackwood made 13 saves on 13 shots in the 3rd period-that doesn't do it justice, it doesn't show the QUALITY of those saves, he was OUTRAGEOUS-that freaking save on Killorn on the 2-on-0-HOLY SMOKES, that was VASI-worthy. Turning point of the game.
That being said, it doesn't excuse giving up 3 goals in about 10 minutes in the 3rd period with a 2 goal lead-although the Mercer goal was a great move (he took advantage of Vasi coming so far out) , and the Vesey goal was a perfectly placed breakaway backhander, but Vasi HAS to stop that Sharangovich shot from getting under his pad. Well, hopefully they can bounce back strong against the Wild tomorrow.
I have no clue how the Devis won. The Lightning were in control it seemed for most of the game and some of the Devils were struggling today.

Not freaking normal to do it once, let alone twice. AND he had MULTIPLE other seasons where he started 70+ games. Guy was an iron workhorse.

Everything just completely fell apart in that 3rd period. That, and Blackwood was sensational (and of course, I benched him in fantasy today expecting him to lose, and I'm actually going to lose my goalie matchup for wins by 1. Unbelievable).
