Connor Brown + a 1st is a decent start to getting Tkachuk, more pieces needed though.
Decent start? I mean, Connor Brown is an extremely valuable player on his own and he is on a sweetheart contract. Matthew Tkachuk has 75 EVP in 137 GP since 2019-20, Connor Brown has 68 EVP in 138 GP. Tkachuk starts most of his shifts in the offensive zone (60/40) while Brown is heavily used as a defensive forward and starts in the D zone (65/35)

Tkachuk is the biggest profile player but he will start making 9.0+ M$ next year... Connor Brown has a 3.6 AAV and is owed 4.0 M$ and is a bit less than 4 years older
So yes I would certainly "sacrifice" Brown to get Tkachuk but hold on... have you looked at the top of the 2022 draft?
Shane Wright, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Brad Lambert, Matthew Savoie, Simon Nemec, Joakim Kemell, David Jiricek, Conor Geekie, etc... Sens are pretty much guaranteed to get another high profile player (really can't see them get out of the bottom-10)
So Connor Brown + a lottery pick for a guy that will make even more than his brother is more than a "decent start". It's actually something the Sens would really have to think about carefully before doing
I think I'd rather take my chances with that 1st round pick and a very valuable player that will cost about 50% to extend
