I dont care how good the team looks rn this is a rebuilding year. We should avoid lateral moves like this imo. But I 100% agree on needing a RHW.

Edit: Not saying this is equal value but Donskoi is reaching 30. We need to target the 21-24 age range. Like Girard for example.

Tell me how this affects the rebuild at all?

Just rather have Shattenkirk be flipped for picks or prospects at the deadline. Dont see the team ready to be bonfire contenders or in the position to acquire 30 yo wingers.

They don’t need to be bonafide contenders to make a lateral move that doesn’t affect the rebuild. Being competitive to the end of the season will only help the rebuild. Getting young players that experience will help in the long run.

if getting young players in the system that experience playing with veterans is the main priority(Which I'm cool and agree with) maybe we should keep Shat. RHD is very valuable for us rn and Shat has played great this season. Moreover, this trade doesnt happen without us adding imo. We aren't in a position to lose assets. But, like ive said I would love to add a RHW.

Shattenkirk is awful if you ignore his point total. He’s gotten most of those on the PP too.

Ok. I'll definitely need to revaulate my thoughts on Shattenkirk especially in regard to his 5v5 play. But, our PP was an all-time worse last year and I do think his production this year is valuable regardless of his shortcomings shown through his GF% for example.

Last 3 goals against tonight he had a big hand in. Didn’t pick up McCann in front of the net just puck watching and 2 awful pinches in a 2-goal lead that lead to odd man rushes. Mahura didn’t help him with his defending but still.

I just was looking for RHW options and Donskoi and Shattenkirk’s contracts are the same. Plus SEA has one RHD. If they find a taker for any decent price they should move him.
