Bruins don't do that trade for multiple reasons 1.don't need him and 2.don't got the cap space

How does that trade help the Avs now if they were inclined to move Girard? It doesn’t but it is a hell of a deal for EDM. Shocking.

Devils might do this if it was Bouchard instead of Broberg.

That is what I was thinking, but NJD probably would have to add another piece

Bouchard is playing 1st pairing minutes these days, the "another" piece would just about have to be Jack Hughes.

Broberg is already an overpay. Noted Oilers observer Allen Mitchell just wrote this morning, "my goodness Broberg is taking giant steps in California. He is ahead of Oscar Klefbom at the same age. I’m certain of it." And he's not prone to exaggerations, either.

Jack Hughes for Evan Bouchard is a non-serious offer.
Jack Hughes plus Damon Severson (retained at 50%) and a pick....is lunacy.

Severson for Broberg? Maybe. Wouldn't be my first choice, but fine on value.
Severson for Bouchard? Yes, but NJD would need to add another piece...and probably take salary back.

Not a chance. Why would Edmonton give up a 22-year-old first pairing RHD who is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league already and is making under $1M for a 27-year-old 3rd pairing guy who has no offensive ability at all?? THAT'S lunacy.

Bouchard has more value than Ty Smith, would you trade him for Severson and a pick? Of course not.

If someone wants to argue the merits of Bouchard or Broberg for Severson, picks. Thats fine.
I'd agree with some and disagree with others.
But Hughes is whole different ballgame

Bouchard is a while different ballgame. You stupidly brought his name into the convo on a SEVERSON trade (tears of joy ) so what do you expect?

Bruins are in the market for a top 4 offensive defenseman and barrie fits the role perfectly. Plus it's not a big package at all to give up if the team wants to improve.

The trade just gives some really solid pieces for the future or assets to flip for what they need (top 6 wingers)

I never brought up Bouchard.
Someone else brought up Bouchard instead of Broberg.
I responded that it would cost more.

You brought up Hughes.

Yeah no. 1) COL isn’t moving Girard, no matter how many opinion pieces Hockey Writers does it 2) it doesn’t give them solid pieces it’s some picks 2 nothing prospects and a recent 1st rd pick. 3) teams don’t make trades to “get pieces to make a trade they want” they just make that trade or make a 3 way trade. Such an easy decline for COL.

Clearly you have no idea what a 22-year-old 1st pairing RHD is worth in this league. He's top 20 for scoring (5v5) and, over the past 3 weeks, top 20 in TOI (5v5). On top of that, he's making just $863k this year and next. He's got a massive amount of value, only Hughes has more on the New Jersey team IMO.
