So he was with the Pelicans, then went to HIFK, then JYP, then back to the Pelicans, I could be reading between the lines too much but that’s a bit concerning

You gotta feel for Thomas Bordeleau - missed two World Junior’s that would’ve seen him utilized in a KEY top 6 role due to things out of his control. And he arguably could have been named to the USA Olympic team - even more so if he had got to appear in the World Juniors and show off his big stage abilities.

Instead he missed out on a “once in a lift time opportunity” because of COVID and could miss out on the World Juniors which leaves his last ever chance at a oh so desirable gold medal in the World Juniors to the spring when he is definitely praying at a THIRD chance to join team USA.

Hopefully third time IS the charm.

I have a fear that Wright = Lafreniere. Always has been more physically dominant than his piers, is wright more fast and skilled?

I didn’t scout Laf in his draft year but Wright to me seems like the full package, I did move his potential down from Franchise to Elite though, don’t think he’ll quite be that good

Only reason Laf (and Kakko) aren't 1st line wingers is because they were drafted by a team that didn't need them. You can't produce when you aren't given the ice time. Put them on Arizona or Montreal and they're first line wingers.

That's a good point, I agree but I don't think Lafreniere will ever be a Dynamic forward, mostly just a solid one. But maybe I haven't watched enough.

Great opportunity to showcase their skills against some really good competitors on the big stage.

Said this from day 1. I didnt think the Rangers were the ideal team for Lafrenière

Lafrenière would have worked out in my opinion so well in Toronto lul. As Tavares would have been the perfect teacher for him. Or if he settled sooner would be racking up points with Matthews. To bad our ball went nah. Heck most of the other lottery teams were also more ideal. Imagine just saying Lafreniere being mentored by Crosby, Malkin and Sullivan.

Rangers really needed a center more but man if they drafted Byfield that would have been bad.

I think he could have been on the right team. Like if we look at the rangers they got really one good mentor for him. Toronto for instance would have had Tavares easing him into the NHL. Edmonton Draisaitl and so on. Zibanajad is a nice guy but I dont think hes the ease you in material.

As I mentioned above I think its more to do with team fit than the player. As man I can tell sometimes he plays lost or confused.

Yeah, this is an opportunity for them to show their skills. A good performance here is memorable, a bad one is a wash since you're playing against older/better players

Was Alexei Cherepanov going to be the next best thing. He had more points than Malkin and ovi when he was 17.

I would say yes. Terrible loss.

And as a fellow Maritimer, one can only wonder how good Luc Bourdon could have been.

I feel that too as a fellow Maritimer. My father told me that he was a great player with a lot of potential, it's truly a shame that what happened did happen.

Cherepanov, Rangers 1st round pick 2006? maybe, died couple years after being drafted
Bourdon, Nucks 1st round pick 2008? maybe, died couple years after being drafted

After doing full research, Cherepanov, Rangers 1st 17th overall in 2007, dies in 2008 at age 19 due to a heart attack? ( he passed out during a game, why/how is really fishy and unclear other than probably heart condition and bad response to the situation). Bourdon, 10th overall pick in 2005 by the Canucks, dies in 2008 at age 21 due to him losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a tractor-trailer

Today's update on Wheeler's list: I got Chicago at 25 right, but STL was 24 and I had them at 22. Still haven't been off by more than 2

The Pelicans....

Well I get to see him on the same team as Kokkonen

Wonder what they promised him

Must have been more TOI and PT. Plus Pelicans coach does like to focus a tad more on development

Who the heck are the Pelicans? I have no idea, not unless he's joining the nba.
