Clarke shoulda made it (move Guhle to 2LD, Lambos out of the top 6, and Clarke to 1RD) but if he isn’t there then I guess this is how we’re going? Idk. We don’t have many good right shots. Power/Guhle/Cormier/Lambos/O’Rourke are all in our top 8 D imo, so taking out Clarke (our best of only 3 good RD) forces someone to play their off-side, or just an inferior player into the lineup.

So Elite prospects has released their December top 32 and I'm either super not up to date with prospects or EP is on crack. Jiricek at 3, Mateychuk at 7, Geekie at 14, Mintuyukov, Pickering, Beck as 18,19,20 ( haven't scouted those 3 but it's like the 2nd ranking they're name has appeared in and they're ranked very high ), Adam Ingram at 25 ( never heard of him ), Miroshnichenko at 30 and Howard at 32

I'm not one to scout prospects so my knowledge on this year is limited, but even so it seems Geekie is too low for what I've seen other rank him at.

-He's currently under contract in the Finnish Elite League as a member of KalPa, loaned to IPK of the Mestis.

-He played one season in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting. He scored 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) in 60 games.

-In terms of awards: Two bronze medals (Mestis and TV-Pucken) and one silver (U16 SM). He led the J18 Allsvenskan in assists in 2017-18 with 19, which is a big number for a defenseman.

-He's been hailed as a team player, and he's really fast. In the one bit of film i saw of him (his 1st career OHL goal), his shot is smooth and his offensive positioning is pretty good.

Final thoughts: In my eyes, with a bit of seasoning in the AHL, he could be some good NHL depth (7th defenseman-type) in a couple of years. Also, i would love to have an Eric Hjorth jersey.

I think Dobber is a little biased against Miro. Their scout thinks he has a poor work ethic, whereas other scouts (most notably Bobby Mack off the top of my head) think he actually has a great work ethic, and thus have him top 2 or top 5 in a lot of cases. Jiricek at 3 isn’t overly surprising, him and Nemec are both elite, and one right shot D usually goes early, especially if there are two of them near the top. Geekie at 14 is probably because they really don’t like his skating. Mateychuk at 7 seems a bit generous, I guess they really like his IQ and 2-way game? Idk. He might the best LD but at this point it should really be a ranking not a mock draft, and even drafting for position, it seems weird to take him that high.

Montreal takes Jiricek #3 regardless.

If Savoie is available whenever Montreal picks there’s absolutely zero chance they don’t take the kid with a French name in front of their home fans (and they need another good centre just as much as a good RD). Otherwise yeah, they probably take Jiricek or Nemec.
