I think Dobber is a little biased against Miro. Their scout thinks he has a poor work ethic, whereas other scouts (most notably Bobby Mack off the top of my head) think he actually has a great work ethic, and thus have him top 2 or top 5 in a lot of cases. Jiricek at 3 isn’t overly surprising, him and Nemec are both elite, and one right shot D usually goes early, especially if there are two of them near the top. Geekie at 14 is probably because they really don’t like his skating. Mateychuk at 7 seems a bit generous, I guess they really like his IQ and 2-way game? Idk. He might the best LD but at this point it should really be a ranking not a mock draft, and even drafting for position, it seems weird to take him that high.

Jiricek at 3 is high, I have him around 10 and he's certainly not ahead of Nemec, Savoie and co.

So Elite prospects has released their December top 32 and I'm either super not up to date with prospects or EP is on crack. Jiricek at 3, Mateychuk at 7, Geekie at 14, Mintuyukov, Pickering, Beck as 18,19,20 ( haven't scouted those 3 but it's like the 2nd ranking they're name has appeared in and they're ranked very high ), Adam Ingram at 25 ( never heard of him ), Miroshnichenko at 30 and Howard at 32

I have seen some scouts say Pavel Mintyukov as the 2nd best player in the OHL right now behind Wright. Which is saying a lot. Very smart defensively for a 17 year old kid. His offensive game is just starting to blossom and could be an all situations top four defender.

This is going to be a really deep draft IMO. Hot take but I wouldn't want a top 3 pick this year. I feel like this could be another year where a guy taken later in the draft could end up being the better player (his game translate to the NHL better) i.e Zegras. There is going to be some tough decisions this year. For me, 2023 is the year you want to suck as Matvei Michkov and Connor Bedard are sure thing generational talents.

So they also didn't rank Chesley, McGroarty, Lekkerimaki, Salomonsson and Luneau... What is Elite Prospects on?

I will start re-evaluating the prospects on my board soon so expect some updated draft rankings from me sometime in the future, let's see if I can get more in detail and how my board shifts around. I think between the 8 sites I'm currently checking for prospect info ( will be at least 9 once THW start releasing their prospect profiles ), i should be fine

So apart for my computer probably dying inside from having 20+ tabs open, man, it's hard to rank these players, I've only re-scouted Wright, Kemell and Savoie and I really can't decide whether Kemell or Savoie should be ranked higher, and then when you add players like Nemec, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Yurov, etc, i might have to tier the players and give up on ranking them fully

So only 2 WJC teams have chosen their players to potentially participate (Canada and USA)

Wonder why the others are going so slow lul

Thats what Im saying nobody but Team Canada and USA have released their team choices.

Seems odd as I would have thought we would have seen more teams be done by now.

Gonna be watching Nemec closely this tournament

Simon Nemec, Slafkovsky, Chromiak, and Knazko are the guys to watch on Slovakia, especially the first two, as they’re draft eligibile. I’m especially looking forward to watching Slafkovsky, I think he’ll dominate.

On Switzerland I really like Simon Knak, he’ll probably be their best player and captain again this year. Noah Meier is okay too, he might be an option as a late round overager if he has a strong tournament and a decent year in Europe, but there isn’t much talent on this Swiss team, they had a strong run for a while but they’re in a bit of a lull these days.

Still waiting for Team Finland's choices as man that team could be really scary.

Key words: could be. They’re probably gonna leave Lambert at home and he’d be a good top 6 player at worst (he was 3RW last year iirc and looked really good, struggling against men doesn’t mean he won’t dominate this tournament). If Raty goes I think Finland will be pretty strong, you could have a top line of Hirvonen-Raty-Lambert that competes with any line Canada, Russia, or USA could put together. I would be interested to see if the Devils loan Holtz to Sweden tbh.

Raty is probs going as he and Hirovinen during the summer tournament were monsters

Both combined for almost 40 points in 11 games

Holtz is a toss up but I dont see any reason why NJ would not send him.

Lambert though yeah after flipping someone off, being heard saying 4 very bad words to a ref, and an incident in the locker room idk if hes going. Still a chance but man this season has been extra rough for him and he aint helping his situation much either

Filip Mesar, Rastislav Elias, Jozef Vilian Kmec, Servac Petrovsky are all draft eligible 1st years too that should be watched, Mesar is projected to be a mid/late 1st, the rest are later round picks, excited to see Knakzo too, since I’m CBJ for the GM Game, him with Berni, Svozil, Bjorgvik Holm, Guillaume Richard, Jake Christiansen are such an interesting LD pool
