Since I live near Toronto, against Toronto, Seattle and another team I don't remember since I didn't know there would be a test later... I find drouin to be a matt duchene type of player, skilled but lazy especially defensively.. and streaky.. not a player I'd want on my team or first line

Did you find Drouin lazy in those games this year? I would argue that, outside of Suzuki, he’s been clearly our most engaged forward. 2 years ago, before busting his wrist he was probably our MVP.

Not sure how much you want to punish the guy in your opinion of him for taking his mental health issues head on last season. He’s also proven to up his game in the playoffs. No, he wasn’t available last playoffs for mental health reasons, do you really hold that against him? I’d argue that shows tremendous strength, not weakness, what he did.

And how he’s come back so far this season, also proves that to me.

Sometimes a player evolves. And our opinion of them should evolve along with it.

As I alluded to drouin plays well for periods at a time and takes periods at a time off.. and 11 games isn't a big enough sample size over an 8 year career..

And yes I absolutely hold it against him, nobody cares who wins the regular season, if you can play through it when your team needs you the most, I don't want him.. people may disagree with me but that puts a huge stigma on his back

To your point, both postseasons he’s been a part of he’s raised his game tremendously.
And again, it’s not an 11 game sample size. Except for last season with his mental health issues, the last 3 seasons plus the 11 games of this one, when available he’s been really good.
Yes he had an unlucky wrist injury in 2019. Gallagher has had multiple. Doesn’t make him any less of a player either.

People like you with words like « stigma » are what perpetuates perception problems for people who suffer from mental health issues.
Luckily, people with these dinosaur attitudes are being removed from positions of power with the culture changes we’re seeing currently.

Long overdue.

That's your opinion.

My opinion is that it's people like you who are ruining the newest generation of kids by telling them they shouldn't feel anxiety and other feelings and use them as a crutch/excuse while medicating the feelings out of them that turns into a generation of people who can't take responsibility for their behaviors... not to say that all conditions are like this for example I find ptsd to be a very real and serious condition.

But for a pro athlete on one of the biggest stages in the league who isn't and hasn't been performing to what scouts and coaches said he could be at 18/19 yrs old, for that person to have anxiety is normal and if they can't handle that (being a pro athlete) then move aside and make some other kids dream come true

Interesting take.

I work with kids with learning differences and with anxiety disorders. I prefer verbal one on one coaching over medication in pretty much all cases.

What do you do exactly? Other than perpetuating your belief that those who tackle their mental health issues head on need to be perceived as « having a stigma » that in your opinion « should » follow them around?

You’re entitled to your wrong opinion Jeff. And the rest of the world is allowed to judge you for it.

Deservedly so.

So high and mighty of you,

Everything in the world these days has a stigma attached to it, don't kid yourself
