You are gonna get roasted for the girard trade

Also, how has anyone who has watched asplund play dating back to last year think he's a 4th liner

Avs already have a mountain of quality defense prospects, they don't need another.

Why? Forgetting the fact COL isn’t trading Girard, how does that trade make a Stanley cup contender better right now? It doesn’t, maybe ever. Hard pass. BUF had their shot at Girard with Eichel.

Girard looks like a tradable commodity but not to Buffalo - I don't know why everybody wants to trade us a left shot D-man it's the one area were aren't depleted

Doesn't really help the Avs now. And if you're so high on Johnson, keep him, the pick and that cap space.

One it would save them in cap space. Which they need. They have depth at defense to make up lost. Defensive prospect give them depth at the position and bjork can play up and down lineup and great penalty killer. Overall they save 3 million in cap space and get more depth and picks.

Space need players with salary to get to cap floor.

Except they don’t. Compher and EJ come off the books the same time MacKinnon is do a raise that’s 9.5M. The only long term contracts are Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar, Makar and Toews. Byram, Newhook, Barron, Ollausson, Ranta, Kaut, Bowers are all on ELC’s through the end of next year, so tell me again how they need cap space? You could convince me that they need some of the ELC guys to hit big (Byram already has) like Newhook and Olausson to provide cheap top 6 help but trading Girard just because they need cap space when he is currently like the 50 something highest paid dman and that deal only gets better. The Avs only consider moving ANYBODY that makes them better NOW.

Bc they have an actual brain maybe?
That so called “4th line” is the defensive unit
Asplund is a decent 2way player, SO HE FITS
Who are u gonna put there instead?
Cozens? Mitts? Tage? Ummmmm, hell no

We don’t really have too many other options for a defensive center spot
U could try to move Girgs back there, but none of those other guys in the top9 make as much sense as Asplund Bc they aren’t as strong as he is defensively

Avs are trying to win now
Trading Girard for futures makes ZERO sense
No chance of this happening imo

Tuch or Olofsson are probably the only BUF players the Avs might be interested in, and highly doubtful either would be available.

Olofsson might be
We’ve gotta sign him after this season, he’s RFA

I would have thought they would be pretty keen to hang onto him if they could. He's probably in the right kind of target area for what the Avs would want though.

U wouldn’t think he’s a guy we would wanna move on from….
but with all the young forward talent we have coming,
i think we might value a young defenseman who can play on the right side as Dahlin’s partner
It’s been a bit of a revolving door with him, trying to find a guy that fits
Would Girard make sense?
Or is all this chatter about the AVs maybe moving him just nonsense?

I think the chatter is nonsense, however that doesn't mean a trade couldn't happen. Just that he isn't being shopped or anything. Girard can play either side so he definitely would make sense, and he's young enough that he fits for a rebuild in Buffalo, and seems to pretty much be able to play with anyone.

The Avs would probably prefer Tuch because of term and age etc but at least Olofsson is a RFA rather than UFA. I doubt BUF would move Tuch with him being the big piece from the Eichel trade but then turning Tuch into Girard wouldn't be a downgrade either. I'd maybe even add a little to Girard (B-C prospect/mid-low pick) to acquire Tuch as Colorado would really be the one 'chasing the trade' in that scenario.

I’d be very surprised if we’d consider moving Tuch
He’s from NY and has said he’s always dreamed of wearing a Sabres sweater
And he was a piece we reportedly “had to have” from Vegas, otherwise the trade wasn’t gonna happen
Seems to be exactly the kind of guy we want to build around

I don’t think we are shopping Olofsson either, but for a guy like Girard i could see us moving him

Who knows though?
U guys might not even like Olofsson
We might not think Girard is the right fit
Just something that seemed like it might make some sense
