that is a no by the avs. Gallagher is turning 30 this season, and already showing signs of slowing down and breaking down due to injuries and the style of play of his.

If they were closer in age then I think it would be pretty close, but Gallagher's deal takes him from his age 29/30 season to his age 34/35 season while Girard's deal takes him from his age 23/24 season to his age 28/29 season.

I really like Gallagher but the combo of his age, term, and playstyle isnt the most appealing

Montreal EASILY passes, a multiple 30+ goal scorer who is still in his prime (albeit nearing the end) and on an excellent contract would return more than just Girard. More like Girard + 2nd or 3rd.

Bro what LOL MTL takes that and runs if that was offered, what are you on about? Gallager is already showing signs of decline and is always inured

No he really hasn't, he was on pace for 30 last season, how is that slowing down? Also the "injuries" are from being hit with the puck by shots not wear and tear. Brainstorm must also be slowing down from injuries too cause he currently has a broken hand from blocking a shot, oh better add Bowen Byram to that list since he is out with an upper body injury (most likely a concussion since he was elbowed in the head). Players get injured it is part of the game, that doesn't mean they are slowing down it just means they got injured. Gallagher's injuries have been a result of being hit by a puck traveling at over 90 mph its not like Weber's where his body is just so beaten up he can't continue playing anymore. If Weber actually had any kind of aim on his shots Gallagher wouldn't have had those broken hands, instead he just gripped it and ripped it so to speak. He will get back on that 30 goal pace soon he is already almost at a 20 goal pace right now so a couple of good games and things will turn around.

I don't think you understand the type of game Gallagher plays, so I'll be polite in explaining it. The heavy and grinding style he plays is extremely rough and tough on his body. Those players do not have a long shelf life in the NHL and deteriorate a lot faster than others. The best examples that come to mind are Simmonds, Lucic, Filigno, D.Brown, Kesler, and so on. Their bodies are a lot more brittle and because of those accumulated injuries, they deteriorate and fall off from the league a lot faster. Gallagher's contract will be "okay" for 1-3 more seasons, but the latter is going to be extremely rough, and will probably end up in LTIR or shipped somewhere else.

Also, Comparing it to Brannstrom and Byram are awful examples lol. They are literally just entering the league and is their first major injuries vs how many Gallagher has accumulated over his career.

That's why this deal is a steal for MTL and will never happen

None of that is what you said though you said "Gallagher is already showing signs of slowing down" in 2-4 years he might show signs of slowing down and won't be a top 6 player anymore but at that point he will only have a few years left on his deal and would still be a middle 6 forward capable of putting in 15-20 goals a season. The guys you mentioned were never elite wingers. The contract MIGHT age badly but not for another 2-4 years at that point you will have gotten your money's worth from Gally.

As for the Byram and Brannstrom reference it is called sarcasm, I was mearly saying that injuries happen to everyone literally every game and that doesn't mean a player is slowing down. Let's wait until Gallagher has seasons where he isn't on a 20-30 goal pace to say he is slowing down.

I just don't see the Avs trading away Girard for a guy that age with that contract.
