Can't see the Oilers trading Russell.

I can’t see Holland doing that, as he will probably want to bring up one of Samorukov, or Broberg next year, and Soucy would block them for another year. I would love to have Soucy honestly! Severely underrated.

Yea, they probably want to ship out Koekkoek instead since he has another year at 925k and hasn't been that great this year.

Soucy can actually play both sides quite well so they could move Barrie in the offseason and still have room for a LD prospect.

Soucy wouldn’t necessarily block Broberg/Samorukov. I’ve seen some people discuss that Keith could hang them up after this season. Given all the off-ice stuff with the blackhawks and Keith, it might make sense for him to have a good year with the Oilers than call it a career.

If that’s the case, Soucy would be a great fit.

With how well Bouchard has been playing I would like to move Barrie, but I don’t know/think Holland will do that. It would help us with our goaltending situation though! That would give us roughly 2.3M for a goalie!



I agree that’s just rumours, but it may happen. If that’s the case, Soucy would be a great addition! That would also give us an extra 5.5M for a goalie if there is one we want to trade for or sign!

If Keith retires the Oilers will actually get more then 5.5M cap since his contract falls under a recapture situation. The Oilers would actually gain over 3.4M cap on top of his 5.5M if he retired after this season.
