I love Klingberg but there's no way I'd be giving him 8 years. At the absolute most I'd do 5 but chances are he'd get more money and term in free agency.

Kiss Hintz goodbye. Peterson is better than all of your bottom six forwards

He wants 8 years. Not saying it’s a good idea

Does Klingberg realize how old he is? He's going to be 30 and he's not exactly in his prime anymore. Dallas would be insane to bring him back on a deal like this. Even at a discounted $7m.

I’m just telling you what he’s wanting. I don’t want that contract around long term but I also don’t want to lose him for nothing

Agreed. I'd love it if they traded him at the deadline for as much as they could get but knowing Nill he won't do it. Look at Oleksiak last year. Everyone knew he wasn't coming back and Nill refused to pull the trigger.

He was on track for a 10 goal, 56 point season last year if it were a full 82-game schedule. He's still in his prime & with the non-physical style he plays, he's got the longevity to still be a strong top-4 offensive defenseman well into his mid-30's.

Am I saying he's going to be a sure fire top-pair RD when he's 38? No, but if I get 3-4 more years of strong top pair play & another couple years of strong top-4 play, I will gladly deal with whatever we get over the final couple years of an 8-year deal if it keeps him in Dallas.

To be fair Rig coming back was looking promising til Seattle wallet slapped him. But I do agree Nill should have gotten assets for him at the TDL

...why would the Jackets want to trade for Khudobin? We're already looking for an opportunity to move Korpisalo...

to replace korpo you idiot

We have Daniil Tarasov in the AHL right now. He'll take Korpi's spot for next year.
