There is no way in hell that Geno who not only had a terrible year last year, but has also yet to play a single game this year due to his knee gets a better return than Letang. Doubt he gets more than Rust at this point either. I’d say best case scenario right now you’re looking at a 1st for malkin 50% retained to Florida.
That’s an undersell on Letang and I doubt Toronto gives up 2 RHD for 1 rental one. Letang 50% for Holl, Ritchie, a 1st, and Amirov possibly. Basically a 1st for Letang and a 1st to take the 2 cap dumps and retain on Letang.
That’s an undersell on Rust. Rust is on a cheap contract, has been a PPG or close to it the past couple years, plays all situations well, plays both wings well, and they’d probably retain on him to get more. Rust at 50% retained for a 1st and Foote would be closer to the mark.
There is no way in hell Minnesota needs or would want to do that trade. Zucker isn’t as bad as people think he is, however they just don’t need him. They traded him for a reason. They need a center more. And since Rask is a UFA and Zucker isn’t, it makes zero sense for them to take on 5.5 million in cap hit for a luxury next year that they could use going after a center. Wild decline. Pens probably decline too cause Zucker > Rask and can get better elsewhere. Would honestly wait til the offseason to trade him when you can retain on him.
With how Pettersson is playing vs how Jarry is playing, there is no way in hell Jarry gets more, much less two rounds better. Right now I’d say Pettersson would get moved if 1.) they give up on trying to move Matheson and 2.) they get at least a 2nd and cheap bottom 6 player with term.
Buffalo declines. They may take a chance on Jarry for like a 4th rounder. I can see maybe a team taking him for a 3rd if they need a 1B/really good backup.
ZAR and Heinen probably get a 3rd each or ok prospect. ERod possibly gets a 4th.
Carter for Smith makes no sense for either team. Boston would probably pay picks/prospects for him which would make more sense for both teams.
