I like Girard but this does not fit our needs at all. Kamenev is a toss-in he will never be signed.

Girard doesn’t have that much value, come on guys. A top Center in the league with an extension isn’t worth a 30-35 point defenseman and a random guy.

Burns looks almost as good as his Norris contending days this year, and that's without taking into account him playing 27 min+ a game and the majority of his faceoffs are in the D zone!!! So I am not at all upset on his deal, and the way he is playing this year I doubt he drops off the face of the earth next year or the year after unless (knocks on wood) he has a debilitating injury.
the last year of his deal he may regress a bit but still that deal is looking good! almost to the point I think we would resign him for another year after his deal (for less hopefully lol)
Karlsson is looking better but I hate his deal and his will end poorly and will hurt us, at best he plays 4 more years at a decent albeit underperforming level and we only have to buy out the last 2 years.
better yet he has another bad injury and retires after his 34 year season.
Vlasic's deal is the worst though! who could have predicted we would fall off like he did!!! from the best Defensive D man in hockey to a barely capable 6th D man in like 3 years.
this one will hurt us the most.

Girard is a very promising D man and would be a godsend for a team lacking an offensive D man. problem is sharks have 2 highly paid offensive D men with a prospect on the way.

their offensive D man is looking great this year (shattenkirk) but he is older and has had some bust years in his past (NY) they are also looking to get younger so this could work.

The same value of an extended top center? I don’t see it. I understand he is young but centers have much more value than D men. I’m not disputing that he isn’t talented, because he absolutely is. Moves the puck well. He does produce some but not a crazy high amount, .45 ppg over his career. I just think Hertl extended who averages .65 ppg over his career and near a point per game player over the past few seasons.

and again if we didn't have Ferraro who is going to get a big pay raise this offseason, or Vlasic eating up cap space, or if we traded Burns or Karlsson I would love to have Girard! he is a really good piece.
but we wont trade either one and Vlasic is dead weight we have no clear way of getting rid of so were not in any position to take on more D salary.
